I really liked the Daemyra scene at the Sept! His surprise seeing her there, when we, the audience, have witnessed multiple significant scenes she’s had in that location with Alicent. That’s a version of Rhaenyra he doesn’t have access to, so he only thinks it’s absurd and funny. But then his presence, and formative place in her life, draw out a very particular version of her too. In her frustration, she reverts to the early shape of their dynamic, one where he is an Adult that she should be able to look up to, and if he does not meet that (which he never would, bc a defining feature of this guy and something she has clearly always known about him even as a kid is that he’s kind of a loser!) she can lash out at him unchecked and without any diplomatic considerations— because in their early dynamic she also wasn’t the queen/an active political player with all its responsibilities. There’s a carelessness implied in that moment that Rhaenyra simply does not get to have otherwise, and it’s also one of the few scenes where it feels to me like there’s real continuity between young Rhaenyra vs her older version. She is so much more reserved, and seems to be in this entirely different emotional place otherwise, which I haven’t always loved as a writing choice. But it is extra striking when the show invokes her younger self like this. The main other scene that accomplished this for me was the argument they had in season two, before he left for Harrenhal. Where she seemed to realize that she has changed, and possibly outgrown him, and he is exactly the same, with all the same flaws and shortcomings. (“When I was a child I took this a challenge. But I'm older now, and I have challenges enough.") That itself becomes a very interesting mirroring, where the Sept scene is the pay off to its set up, and the realization that she is still also the same, at least in some ways. That the younger more temperamental version of her still exists

Tangentially, it’s also nice to see them kind of… hanging out? A foundational element of her character is this synergy she has with him, and it’s well enough established early on in the show that they don’t really need to revisit or reinforce it instead of building on the conflicts that rest on that. But between this and the last episode, it’s rewarding to see them just talking, and how their day to day interactions look
