Hello, it's been a while but I'm making another game!
The Town Where We Met is a life and farm simulation game made in RPG Maker and taking inspiration from similar titles in the genre.
This prototype is to test the base gameplay mechanics of the game.
So naturally, most (if not all) graphics are placeholders, so don't pay too much attention to that. I would like to gather feedback on the flow of the game mechanics as they stand right now.
Currently the game has the following features fully implemented for you to test:
Farming
Animal Care
Beekeeping
Foraging
Fishing
Mining
Cooking
Crafting
Decorating
As of today the game is being worked on by a solo developer and it's not expected to have a full release anytime soon. I'm just working on this in my spare time and I'm doing it for fun and from a place of love for life and farming sim games.
Please send any relevant feedback to my email [email protected] or contact me on Twitter @jomiancu. I will be making a separate blog for this game, just wanted to post the announcement here since most of you would probably be interested.
You can check the prototype here!

I heard the game is canceled now. Is this true? And will you be making an announcement post? Or are you going to let it die peacefully?
Yes, the game is cancelled now. I don’t think I’ll be making an official announcement post. I’m gonna let the blog die slowly, maybe reblogging some other interesting game projects I follow.
But I do appreciate everyone’s support throughout the time this blog ran and I hope to see you guys in the future if I ever get back into game-making!
Feel free to follow my personal art blog as well as twitter account. And please check the team page to give everyone else your support ♥
Is the game cancelled now :(?
Yes, sorry.
Hello everyone! The project is still on hiatus and I’ve been working on some other stuff in the mean time. I’m currently working on a webcomic alongside other game projects. I’ll come back to Moonlight Tales sometime in the future, maybe soon, who knows.
You can check my art blog here, I’m currently taking commissions. And you can check what everyone else is doing over their own blogs. The playable prototype is still up in case you haven’t played it.
Here’s a drawing of Vivian, thank you for sticking around and I’ll see you soon, hopefully!
Hi! This is José, the developer of Moonlight Tales, since my project is on a(n indefinite) hiatus I wanted to give the opportunity to other developers to give their games a shout out to the followers of my dev blog. The blog has over 500 followers, not much but I wanted to give back to the community a bit. If people would be interested in that, by all means let me know! / Sorry if this seems silly, just thought I could help people out! Have a nice day everyone!!
I didn’t know Moonlight Tales had been put on hiatus. I was looking foward to the game coming out (but it’s all good).
If you’d like a shout out to your game, ask José @moonlighttales!
How are u doing ? :/
Hello!
Thank you for checking in with us! I myself am doing better, but unfortunately the project is still on hold for the time being. I’m working on other stuff at the moment (you can check my personal art blog if you wish), and I still don’t feel motivated/skilled enough to come back to Moonlight Tales.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for 500+ followers and 630+ downloads on the prototype (last time I checked was a few weeks ago), and to everyone who reported bugs and gave feedback. If/when I come back to Moonlight Tales I would do it in a different and better engine that would allow me to do more things.
Anyways, thank you again for your constant support!!
As promised, here’s the Moonlight Tales prototype.
Moonlight Tales is a series of life and farming simulation games inspired by the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and Animal Crossing series.
Inspired by the Harvest Moon/Story of Season series, Moonlight Tales includes features such as farming, cooking and raising relationships with the people in town. The series also has elements of the Animal Crossing series such as decorating. Although this is a prototype, most features are functional (farming, house decoration, friendship system, tv, calendar, shops, weather, etc).

Thank you for playing!
An apology.
This post has been a long time coming and it’s about time I sit down and write it. I want to start by apologizing to everyone who has been following this project since it was announced and for all the constant periods of silence, and for all the excuses I have been given and for everything, really.
Unfortunately development on Moonlight Tales has stopped, and has been this way for the past 7-8 months. There are many reasons for this but the main one is that I moved to Argentina back in July 2015 to start university there but unfortunately things just didn’t go my way, I was in a bad place mentally and I lost contact with my team and just didn’t have the motivation to work on the game or any project, really; and to make a long story short, I am now back in my home country, severely depressed and demotivated to do anything art related. This is no one’s fault but mine and I wish I could have done something other than disappoint my wonderful team and you, the followers.
This is not to say MT is cancelled for good, I love this project a lot and would love to keep working on it at one point in the future after I get my stuff sorted out and manage to be in a more emotionally stable state of mind. But for now the project is on hiatus, and will be for a long while.
Thank you so so much for all your patience these past few months and I will upload a prototype with whatever we managed to do so far this weekend after I clean it up a bit.
Finally, please support my wonderful team with all their stuff while I’m gone:
You can find Teresa’s art over here, she’s an amazingly talented artist and overall just the sweetest person!
Please send some encouragement to my lovely writers Danni and Rachel, who have put all their passion into developing such amazing characters and creating such a lovely world.
And check out Jacob’s music and tell him how much of an incredibly talented young man he is!
Again, I am so sorry things went this badly and I’ll forever apologize for all my mistakes working on this project and for disappointing you all. Thank you so much as always for your constant support!!
You are all wonderful! See you soon!
-José
Working on some maps! Since I have no plans for these couple of days I’ve been thinking of doing a long Christmas stream where I work on the game and playtest a bunch of stuff, would anyone be interested in that?
Oh man, I was going to post this earlier but I lost track of time while working, but anyways, here’s a WIP from one of the last maps for the demo. This is going to be a small town for the demo with a few shops.
I’ve finished classes for this semester and I have started working on the game full time again.
Hope everyone has a nice December and good luck with finals to everyone still in class!!
Hey guys!! I don't want to pressure you or anything, I just wanted to know how progress is coming along? I think we're all okay with you taking your time but it's nice to hear from this project every now and again ;w;
Hey, thanks for checking in with us! Uni is kicking my ass and I haven’t been able to work much, but I try to work on the game on the little time I have free. I sometimes stream while I work and I post the link here :)I’m almost done with this semester and I’ll be able to work on it more then, I’m really sorry for the delays and thank you so much for your kind words!! :)Thanks everyone for your continued support.-José
@sweetlywrittenwords96 asked:
“Hi! Just wanted to say that this game looks really cool so far! I was wondering though, what kind of system you’re planning to release it on? :)”
And well, RPG Maker VX only exports the game to an .exe file which means it can only be played on Windows OS. However, there are multiple ways to play RM games on a mac, here’s some useful links with more information: x, x, x, x, x
I don’t own a MAC so I can’t personally verify anything posted on those links actually works, but I’ll try to check with friends a bit closer to release.
Thanks for your question :)
ladykae replied to your photoset “Graphics upgrade! Hey guys, we’re upgrading the character sprites to...”
Yeaaaaa ok i really like these. I was kind of hoping for a sprite update and I must say - very much impress. take your time though, seriously. loved games are more fulfilling than rushed ones. yeah? ;)
Thank you @ladykae! :)
Graphics upgrade! Hey guys, we’re upgrading the character sprites to this new set. The old one was made a long time ago and it seems very unpolished (and just plain ugly in my opinion). I’m my own harshest critic and I’m almost never satisfied with my own work but I’m quite pleased with how these new sprites look and I hope you guys like them too. The demo is almost done! I’m really sorry about all the delays, I recently moved from one side of the continent to the other to study (game design :D) and I’m still adjusting to my new life here, I apologize again for this demo to be taking so long but me and the team want it to be as good as it can be and I don’t want to rush too much and end up with something mediocre to show you guys. But like I said, we’re close to finishing the demo! We’ll keep you guys updated and I hope everyone enjoys their Halloween month :D
-José
I want to send some money to your developers but I don't want to use Patreon (because I'm not sure if I want to make an account yet). Is there an Paypal email I can send like $3 to?
Hi, I’m sorry for the late reply, tumblr didn’t notify me of some asks.
I made a page with some information for people with the same question, and also for people who don’t want to commit to a monthly subscription like on the Patreon.
Anyways, here it is.
And thank you so so much for considering helping us out,, it means the world to me!♥
