i'm begging the lot of you to actually read some medical journals or any other actual research on DID/OSDD. information that circles around via carrd/tumblr half of the time is just speculation being presented as fact. you all need to be able to find some actual resources before you continue spouting internet echo chamber bullshit to other systems who don't know any better.

my therapist shared this with me today and i thought i’d pass it along:

sometimes, you’ll dissociate and there won’t be a specific reason or trigger for it. this is especially true if your baseline for dissociation is already relatively high; your mind might flow in and out of dissociation.

so, don’t feel stressed if you can’t identify a reason for why you’re dissociating. it’s normal to experience a mix of random dissociation and dissociation with distinct triggers.

It doesn’t mean trying to justify being pro endo to me or trying to get me to support the belief that you’re endogenic.

I hate to say this because i thought it was common knowledge but a “core” is a very outdated term and a myth about DID/OSDD

The thought of a “original” or “core” personality is not real

If you see someone using this term in anything having to do DID/OSDD and it has a different meaning, they are very misinformed and misguided

The core doesn’t exist nor should the term be used for something else

Controversial Opinions (Source Separation Edition):

Fictives do not need to change their name and appearance to be source separated. Alters/parts introject for a reason, and if they like what their source's name or appearance is, fucking let them.

Source Separation does not mean absolutely denying the existence of their source. It means being aware that they're not actually the character/person they're based on.

Source Separation should not be forced, and doing so does more harm than anything else. Every system has their own pace, stop forcing "healing" onto them.

Istg I'm getting so heated by most of syscourse's takes. Almost all of them are so incredibly stupid.

I think people w DID should be able to talk about in nonchalantly bc no it's not a weird scary rare disorder it's not even the most interesting thing about me. But it does affect literally every day of my life so yes it would be nice to talk about. Occasionally.

I really fucking hate the term "traumagenic," because if I tell you that I'm a system, I'm telling you that I have a trauma disorder. There shouldn't be a need for me to make the distinction of the "origin" of my multiplicity.

Posting here on Tumblr too, but I'm looking for a duplicate of one of our stuffies we've had since 2007..

His tag was ripped off, so we have no way to tell what brand he is, and reverse searches aren't providing any results of similar stuffies. The tag was on the inner right leg.

And he used to have a bow tie that was white with black polkadots. Right now he's lacking stuffing, which definitely contributed to the lack of results.. but he will never be restuffed. Not until he is completely flattened.

If anyone has any ideas or recognizes his model, please reach out. We've been looking independently on and off for years, but have found no results.

Common things in DID that no one likes to talk about

- switches that feel like you’re turning into someone else rather than them taking control (non-possessive switching)

- being unable to recognize amnesia until something requires you to remember something you forgot

- staying in the front for weeks at a time

- being unable to communicate with alters internally (this is so common why does everyone act like this is weird?)

- feeling like you don’t have any problems because you feel disconnected from them

- constant denial

- rapid identity, label, and appearance changes

- comorbidities, particularly personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and the schizophrenia spectrum

- autism (there is science pointing towards autistic people being more susceptible to trauma)

- disliking your system

- wanting final fusion
