Finally in the last season of this cracked out show and I still h8 that man!!! The way they ruined Emma’s character just to force this relationship is wild. Like I’ve never seen a show completely and utterly destroy a female character quite like OUAT

People writing Ken as an abuser makes me cringe SO much. He loves her so much, and one of the things I liked most about your fic was that he got to fall in love with her Outside of his programming. He’s her biggest cheerleader and I love that he gets to do it as her husband 🥹

Not permanently! For one, I don't think he would become a househusband until they become parents. I think Ken's someone who's so curious and eager, that he'd definitely spend any spare time trying to at least volunteer or otherwise make himself useful to the community in some way (even if it meant taking a baby in a carrier with him). I could see him doing more lifeguard work as their child(ren) grow older too.

#Barbie would continue to be this sort of pioneering force speaking for a wider community and Ken would be more of a homebody #but both voices are equally important and helpful and balance each other out - and that's what matters!

It's so warming to know the fic's made such a good impression on you! Trust me, it took a very long time to shake it from the core of my daily thoughts too, haha.

See, I feel like the idea of Ken being in any way abusive is completely off the mark from how I perceived his character. Ryan Gosling himself has always pushed the idea very eagerly that Ken is Barbie's cheerleader and he thinks the absolute world of her, no matter what, and I don't think that ever changed - yes, even during the patriarchy plot. I don't think I could ever write Ken to needlessly hurt Barbie or treat her as lesser for being a woman, but it's each to their own!

I am honestly terrible for rambling, so I appreciate any rambles headed my way! Thank you again for leaving the comment you did, because it really made my evening.

Friendly reminder that when bullshitting a birthday, you can lie about your age. Neal probably did to make himself seem older, so he could avoid the foster system and get a job at an earlier age.

He was 15 when he left Neverland. He probably lied and said he was 18 or 19, so he's probably (at least) 3 or 4 years younger than what his wanted poster says.

Yes. The flyer they showed for 2 seconds that we had to screencap and blow up to read was the only *ONLY* place that A/E wanted to reference Neal and Emma's massive age difference. Not the plot or any interviews.

Bonus Emma's prison baby article says she was born in 1979. (17 in 1996) JMOs real birth year but not the timestamp they went with of 1983. If Neal's paper prop makes him 24 in 2001 than Emma's makes her 22. '77 and '79 are the real birth years of the actors and their real age difference.
