why is mint a default mouth cleaning flavor?

mint is extremely strong and can overpower any taste and scent. it also has genuine medicinal and germicidal properties which is what helps kill the bacteria causing odors. this is also true for citrus, but citrus is bad for your teeth as the acid erodes enamel so it’s not ideal to use for mouth cleaning.

Animals that display homosexuality:

Primates- besides humans, many primates are gay. bonobos (fully bisexual), gibbons(rare), gorillas(common), orangutans(rare, observed in males), and even our closest relatives the chimpanzees (mostly male), have been seen (both male and female)

Birds- black swans(polyamory, males), albatross’(mostly female but also male), blue ducks(male), ibises(chemically induced), mallards(male leaves female for male), penguins(mostly male but also female), vultures(male), pigeons(both male and female, infertile eggs), flamingos(same as black swans). most of these species raise chicks together

Leucistic American Badger at Point Reyes!

Recently, a unique sight was spotted here in Point Reyes National Seashore - a leucistic American Badger! You may think that it is an albino, but if you look closely, you’ll notice that its eyes are actually brown or black, not pink. Its nose also has some pigment to it. Leucism is a genetic mutation where there is only a partial loss of pigmentation, while albinism is when there is a total absence of pigmentation. Albino creatures will look white (or sometimes pale yellowish) in color, with very pale pink or red eyes. Leucistic creatures can look white in patches or almost completely white, but their eyes will always have color to them. Just like this badger whose normally brown stripes are showing up more as a dark cream color! bears are kind of dogs. this info is extremely important to me. they share a common ancestor (duh) and bears (ursidae) are in a category called “caniformia” which is a suborder that means “dog-like”. that’s why their faces are so similar

the “o” in “women” is commonly pronounced with an “i” sound. that’s not a mispronunciation; it’s because the word in old english is “wifmenn” meaning “female human being” which slowly evolved to “women”

If the primary colors were to get into a fight, which would win and why?

If we hold Primary Color Thunderdome, Blue crushes everyone else. In fact, this is an important property of blue and it's one of the most convenient ways to perk a bland illustration the fuck up.

The fault is not within ourselves, but in our stars.

Humans, on average, have drastically more Long and Medium wavelength cone cells in our Retinas, meaning most of our cone cells are the kinds that see Red, Orange, Yellow and Green really well. You'd think that would make us really good at distinguishing those colors, and give Red and Yellow and edge in the primary fight, right?

Well, we ARE really good at distinguishing Red and Yellow... but there's not that much red and yellow light compared to Blue Light.

If you remember 5th grade science at all, you might remember that Light is a bunch of rays of energy traveling in waves in from space, mostly the Sun. The more energy these rays have, the more frequently the wave waves, and the farther the light travels.

Now, the sun emits a full spectrum of light, but after 93 Million miles and smacking into the atmosphere, a lot of the lower-energy red and yellow light waves have been scattered and broken up, but the blue ones are still going strong, so the mix of light the human eye actually receives is a little red, a little more yellow-green, and a SHITLOAD of Blue.

Hence, we need a TON of Long-and-Medium wavelength receptors to be able to pick up red and yellow at all!

But this also means Blue is stupidly OP.

A "Pigment" is "A Physical Chemical Compound that reflects specific wavelengths of light." and in physical media, which all utilize pigments, Blue is King. Even a smidgen of blue pigment has tons and tons more blue light hitting it to reflect and will reflect more light per pigment compound than any red or yellow pigments you've got.

FURTHERMORE, our ability to see, and distinguish different types of red and yellow light gives blue another advantage- because we CAN see red and yellow so well, we can also distinguish between many, many, MANY types of blue light- if there is ANY red or yellow light being reflected with that bluelight, we'll spot it, and our brains will say that "WELL! That blue is CLEARLY different than THIS blue!", which is probably why Blue has got so many distinctions in language- "Goluboy" vs "Siniy" in russian, The continued disputed use of "Indigo" in english, and "Blue vs Cyan" in Digital work.

I am not entirely up on the physics of digital art, but given that the color wheel in clip studio looks like this:

-I'm willing to bet the Physics-based Dominion of Blue holds true.

A cool thing about this Physics Glitch is that you can use "Electric Blue" (From about where I have the Marker placed in the above picture to the line between True Blues and "Teal") as an underpainting color, and it will peek through in an extremely subtle but attention-grabbing way that can make a dull-colored illustration much more interesting to look at.

In traditional media, that means laying down a fine layer of Electric blue media and then drawing/painting over it.

In digital, once you've done your lineart, mask off the subject of your work and put a layer of the most intensely blue-blue your eye sees under the lineart, and then color in your subject on a layer above your blue, by drawing in the color manually or leaving the color layer *just a bit* translucent so the blue peeks through in a handful of pixels. if it's a full scene, pop the blue layer between your lowest color layer and your paper layer. let it leak through, just a bit, and it'll make everything pop.

You can also use electric blue as a color-shift in your lineart, or sprinkle it in wherever you like- a little goes a long way, but I extremely recommend it.

idk why people think this (probably because of misinformation) but type 2 diabetes is NOT caused by being overweight. it’s the other way around. the difference between type one and two is that type one is more severe and type 2 can be managed with diet, but sometimes that doesn’t work.

rgb = additive light-based color model (creates color by mixing light) photo color

cmy(k) = subtractive color model (reduces reflected light on a white background to create colors) (opposite of rgb) used in printing process

ryb = subtractive pigment-based color model. traditional

roygcbvm = (also called roygbiv but it’s inaccurate since isaac newton incorrectly called cyan ‘blue’ and actual blue ‘indigo’. the model i created also includes magenta since it’s color frequency is slightly different than purple). roygcbvm is the visable color spectrum. basically all the colors we see (without accounting to value)

the graphic below shows color ordered in accordance to their value and darkness. the white dots are placed on the colors with no added or subtracted value, showing their differences of frequency. the graph isn’t 100% accurate when it comes to value itself, and it’s just a simplified example.

the reason why you don’t react to huge traumatic events but have a breakdown to minor inconveniences, might have to do with reaction time and coping mechanisms.

big things are harder to process, it gives your body time to protect you from any overstimulation, by turning off that specific stimuli before you can process it all.

minor inconveniences, are unpredictable things that happen very quickly and are easier to process, thus harder for your brain to protect you by shutting off, so it instead uses your pent up frustrations from any past occurrences and applies it to this mildly frustrating thing, as a way to “prevent” this situation from happening, whether it’s possible to or not.

basically your brain sucks at its job. mostly because of things we were taught (holding in emotions etc)
