Buying Designer Brands On A Budget
Everyone loves to own a designer dress or clothes from high-end brands. But what to do when you are on a budget. Here are some tips to shop for those while not breaking your budget.
Shop “out of season.”
Every store has to clear last season inventory and make way for the new one, and that is the time when they put all those out of season clothes on sale. Check those stores and plan your visit accordingly.
Buy from second-season stores
This is the best way to get branded clothes for less. Stores like Marshalls, J C Penny, or Nordstrom’s Rack are stocked with items that are either overstock or from last season but are still on trend. Likewise, one could also check out websites such as Hautelook, MyHabit or 6 pm–you can shop at these stores from the comfort of your home. Well, you never know, you would find a dress you have been dreaming about for an excellent price.
Follow the 60/40 rule
Spend 60% of your money on classic pieces–evergreen items; one you can wear year after year and keep the rest 40% of your money for trendy pieces. True that classics are for forever, but you don’t want your wardrobe just filled with them–therefore do spend on trends too but make sure to keep a healthy mix.
Have a clothing swap party
Do have several girlfriends about the same size as you? Chances are they too spend on higher-end brands–plan a get-together and throw a clothing swap party. A fun way to get more branded clothes.
Check out thrift stores in high-income places
People with higher income tend to donate a lot of high-quality items. You may find cashmere sweaters, or high-end jeans for a fraction of their retail cost at these stores. Do try on clothes before you purchase–you never know if the previous owner altered it.

5 Tips For Looking Fashionable On a Budget
Well, who doesn't love shopping for clothes? However, no one wants to break the bank to get that perfect fashion wardrobe. Here are a few tips to help you save while being at the top of the fashion game.
1. Decide what you want!
If given $100 a month for clothes shopping--how would you like to spend it? Everything in one branded attire or many less costly clothes from various outlets?
Anything would work--you just have to decide what is that you want. If you want a perfect dress from Neiman Marcus; go for it but avoid small impulse purchases while shopping. Everything is all about deciding what you want and sticking to it.
2. Take a look at your closet!
Often we tend to accumulate stuff and not let go of it. Check your wardrobe and see what you already have--if you have a lot of pink things--consider adding some other color. Just don't buy it because it looks good, instead make a calculated purchase so you can have an extensive variety of exciting clothes and not just a repeat of same old style.
Get rid of clothes which you no longer wear, spend an evening with your closet and you would know what it needs to become one perfect fashionista's wardrobe.
3. Sell, trade or toss
If you don’t wear or use any of your stuff--clothes, accessories, etc. consider selling them on eBay, offer up or local facebook groups. You would surely earn a little in the process.
Toss away those old or the ones you have outgrown.
4. Shop the classics
Take a note of all the items you wish to have in your wardrobe. A closet full of smart and quality clothes is worth more than one filled with a pile of cheap or ill-fitted items.
Just stick with the classics, the best way to be on trend. For a woman, a classic item might include a little black dress, high-quality dark jeans--anything that can be worn anytime and be mixed and matched with infinite options to make a statement. Even a brown leather jacket or shoes could be called a classic--it's something you can wear in any weather and pair it with multiple outfits.
Take a moment and prepare a list of your classics--it's the best way to be fashionable with a limited budget.
5. Fashionable on a budget?
Fix a particular amount per month for clothes and accessory shopping. Be it $50, $100 or $500--set it aside and stick to it. Cut down on the number of times your eat outside to save that money for getting things you love.
Doing this helps in keeping track of your spending, and you can go buy that dress you have always wanted.
All the best! Trust, following these simple steps, will make you a frugal fashionista aka smart spender.
