real talk, I think my first dragon book was Cornelia Funke's Dragonrider and then I got super into Temeraire at 12 years old, and I really struggle getting into other dragon books because they never quite hold up to what I know is possible. Unrelatedly I know that publishing, especially YA and romance, just follows trends and pushes what's hot rn but going to a bookshop is such a frustrating experience currently
