I meant what do we do after the ceremony but I see you’re thinking ahead // SHAWN MENDES
Overview: Shawn and Y/n tie the knot
Authors note: I got no clue if this is actually how the ceremony goes but just roll with it guys
I needed him like humans needed oxygen- in fact maybe he was my oxygen. The only way I felt like I could breathe was when he was with me. When he wasn’t I could feel the heaviness of life sinking down onto my shoulders, pushing me under the water till my last breath escaped me.
He consumed my thoughts that it was almost unhealthy, my body knowing when he was around way before I saw him. When I did however, it felt like I was heating up. My body alight with flames until they coursed through my blood. Most of all, he made me feel safe.
His chocolate brown eyes holding my gaze and I knew that where I would go, he would follow. Just as much as I needed him, he needed me. I wasn’t afraid to say I was in love with this boy and well, that’s just what I did.
“I, Y/N Y/S/N Y/L/N, take Shawn Peter Raul Mendes to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part,”
My hands were shaking, Shawn trying to comfort me by running his thumb over my knuckles. I meet his eyes to already find them locked on my face, pure adoration clear in his dark eyes. My turn, he mouths.
“I, Shawn Peter Raul Mendes, take, Y/N Y/S/N Y/L/N to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part,”
“I now present you husband and wife, you may kiss your bride,” The officiant steps back, Shawn grinning at me. One hand goes to wrap around my waist, pulling my body flush against his while the other cups my cheek. Softly he kisses my lips, the crowd that is roaring with cheers and whistles seem to disappear into the background.
He pulls away by a few inches and my heart hammers loudly in my chest.
“We did it!” I whisper, my face breaking out in a wide smile.
“That we did,” He seals his his lips over mine again and I giggle, tugging away from him after a moment and I start towards the few steps that lead down to where our family and friends are seated in the small church.
“Y/n!” a voice calls and I look up from the floor to see Aaliyah running towards me.
“Hey,” I chuckle, as she envelops me in a hug but because of how my dress poofs out its difficult to get close to me. I must admit, I didn’t think about that when I bought the shimmering white gown.
“We’re officially sister-in-law’s, how exciting is that?” She giggles, her attention drawn towards someone standing behind. I immediately know that it’s Shawn from the tingles that trace up my spine as he rests a hand on my lower back.
“You better take care of Y/n Shawn, If anything happens to her I will come for you,” Aaliyah says, glaring at Shawn slightly. Shawn looks appalled, eyes wide in alarm.
“Pretty sure you should be saying that about me, Aaliyah?” Shawn returns, gaining his composure again.
I roll my eyes, nudging Shawn in the stomach and he giggles, resting his cheek on to the top of my head.
“Nah… Y/n is going to be a better sibling then you, to be honest,” She laughs and now its Shawn’s turn to glare.
“I don’t want to commit murder on my wedding day but just remember I know where you live,” Shawn tries to say threateningly but both siblings just end up laughing.
We part ways, Shawn and I talking to some guests while Aaliyah joins some of Shawn’s friends.
“That was a lovely ceremony Y/n,” My Auntie says once we reach her, dabbing her eyes gently to remove tears.
“Aw,” I say, leaning in to give her a side hug. “You don’t have to cry,”
“I know, I know. My niece is just growing up,” She sobs, turning away slightly to regain her self.
“Y/n, Y/n,” A small voice calls and something crashes into my legs.
“Jazzy!” I say happily, reaching down to pick up the small girl, my favorite cousin.
“I like your dress,” She says, touching the small jewels on my dress. “Pretty,”
“Thank you but I love yours,” I tell her, tucking back some of the blonde hair that was sticking up behind her ear. “Do you think we could swap dresses?” I ask teasingly and Jazzy laughs, shaking her head.
“Your dress is too big for me Y/n,” She exclaims, her small hand going up in exaggeration.
“I also think you’re to big for Jazzy’s dress, but dream on sweetie,” Shawn comments, making himself known to my cousin. Shyly she tucks her head into my neck, peering at Shawn.
“Jazzy, You remember Shawn right?” I ask gently.
“Shawn?” She murmurs gently before quickly making grabby hands at him.
I pass her to Shawn who coos at her, making Jazzy laugh and I watch them fondly.
Shawn catches my eye, winking at me.
“Sorry about Jazzy Y/n,” My auntie says, my face free from tears now.
“Oh its fine Aunt Sarah,” I wave it off.
“Don’t they look cute though?” She laughs pointing to where Shawn was now dancing with Jaz, her standing on his feet while he gently twirled them around.
“They look adorable,” I smile, my heart felling as though it was going to burst at the sight in front of me.
“Jazzy,” Aunt Sarah calls and Jaz hugs Shawn before running over to us.
“I hope you said thank you,” I hear Aunt Sarah say before they make their way to the door, about to head off to reception.
“You were amazing with her,” I tell Shawn, entwining my hand with his.
“Its my specialty,” He teases, kissing my cheek.
“So,” I murmur after a moment of silence. “What do we do after this?”
“Since I’ve checked marry the love of my life of my bucket list,” He sends me a earth shattering grin, “I was thinking maybe we try for a kid of our own?”
My eyes widen. “I mean, well,” I stammer and Shawn pulls me in, the warmth of his body transferring to mine. “I meant what do we do after the ceremony but I see you’re thinking ahead,”
