MANY HAPPY RETURNS UPDATE:

According to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p01np1b8/Sherlock_Series_3_Sherlock_Mini_Episode_Many_Happy_Returns/ (which may not look the same if you’re not in the UK, hence the screenshot), the minisode will be 7 minutes long.

That page also gives a BBC One broadcast time of 2:00 p.m. on December 24th for the minisode. BUT I’m not sure how accurate that is because 1) this is the first I’ve heard of the minisode being aired on BBC One, and 2) that appears to be right in the middle of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Which seems weird to me, so I’m wondering if that’s just some kind of placeholder time. (But I’ve never watched the BBC’s Christmas programming, so what do I know? Maybe they’re always breaking in to movies with surprise!minisodes to confuse children.)

I think the real takeaway here is that you should watch for the minisode to show up somewhere around 2:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Here’s the worldwide time conversion.
