shortest possible story is that he he got arrested and hospitalized after walking around outside at night, MAYBE having 'an episode', MAYBE he was drunk, maybe he was high, maybe he was just being loud, who knows. Dude was outside at night in boxers and cowboy boots and that's all he did to "invite" police interaction.
But cops claimed he assaulted them so he gets arrested. Then goes to the hospital. Then goes back into custody.
And then he's not heard of for a while, then days later says he's out and okay. But facing FELONY charges!

Almost a year later, Lil Nas X is out of a mental health rehab program, looking good, saying he feels really good, and seems to be on the way up after all of this. I'm really happy for him. I hope he has good genuine support in his life through family, friends, and folks rooting on him that he can count on.
I am really disappointed but not surprised how quickly a lot of media support for him disappeared, especially queer papers. An interview from before the police incident really highlighted how many people wanted him to fail and wanted to see him fall, including certain pockets within communities that should have has his back.
Happy Happy Pride to Lil Nas X. I hope nothing but good things come his way.

Someone has been attempting to fax* something to my work telephone for the past three days, with escalating frequency. This happens every so often; either someone's giving out my number as their fax number, or possibly some company somewhere has a list of "frequently faxed numbers" by the fax machine and mine is on there instead of the correct one. Usually I get like, three calls in a day, then they figure it out and it doesn't happen again for a couple of months.
* A fax machine, kids, is what we would use to send documents before email. You feed the paper copy into the machine, and it scans it and sends it to another machine in the other person's office, which prints out a copy. Why anyone sends faxes anymore is a mystery because they are less reliable than email and less info-secure than your average wet paper bag but hotels and doctors' offices really fuckin' love them a fax.
This person is clearly either stubborn or stupid. Could be both! But letting it go to voicemail repeatedly didn't work, answering and yelling "If you can hear me this is not a fax machine!" didn't work (sometimes it does -- some combined phone-fax machines, if they call you, they broadcast any audible response to whoever is nearby), and calling them didn't work because *gestures* all I have is their fax number.
I might also be stupid because it took me a while to realized I can fax them.
Hello! Please be advised that the phone number [my work number] is not a fax machine. It is my work telephone number. You have been faxing an incorrect number. I cannot receive faxes at this number. If you are aware of anyone who is giving this number out as their fax number, you would be doing me a favor if you let them know! Thank you and good luck in your faxing endeavors.
I'm especially proud of that last line. I hope it helps to convey that while I am very much in earnest in wanting them to STOP FAXING ME, I am also amused at the situation and want them to succeed.

A very nice woman who works with a health clinic on the east coast called me to apologize. Apparently one of the staff had written down the number of a place they fax frequently and hung it up by the machine, but they write their numbers a little weird, so everyone in the office knew that was a 7 and not a 2, but they hired someone new and that person assumed it was a 2.
I said I hoped they weren't in trouble for that, and she said no, and they've gone ahead and printed out the number by computer so there's no chance of it happening again. She said thanks for being a good sport about it and we had a nice laugh.
As someone who works for an official office, we also love faxes and only really got an actual dactual bona fide certified grade A online web portal to do certain submissions and renewals because of the 2020 lockdown. My org does not consider emailing submissions with payment information secure so we tell people that we don't recommend it and they should fax it instead if they can. I usually preface that by saying 'if you have that capability' (with secret 'in 2026' for when they call us about us not getting something).
It's deeply annoying to have to deal with a fax because they're always the crustiest most unreadable documents and are often cutoff or misaligned. Death to faxes

Okay like.... I hate to ruin the joke but in the book it's actually worse than this. Because Pippin knew the plan (destroy the ring by throwing it back into the forge whence it was made to unmake it) but Sauron just like.... fucking assumed that any hobbit looking into a palantir was a captive of Saruman because last he heard a band of Saruman's and his guys had killed some gondor guy and captured two hobbits and then he stopped hearing from that particular group of guys (which we know is because they all got got by Eomir and his cohorts, but Sauron does not know that) so from his perspective clearly Saruman has the ring and is deliberately ignoring summons and making prisoners look into the damn orb.
Gandalf notes, especially after a fucking nazgul sweeps over them on one of them weird lizard things heading towards the tower they just left, that they got SOOOOOO fucking lucky.
Like Sauron got a facetime call, saw that it was some punk kid (they're young by hobbit standards) and said "tell your dad to take the phone back and he owes me my shit" and hung up.

I was able to keep my time housing insecure to one month and secure a stable place to live. I finally started to put myself out into the dating scene after ten years.
