Our bio states that our influences cross many musical genres, this is a direct result of being raised on the north side of Chicago; a bubbling melting pot of ethnicities and cultures - and music being a very diverse culture on the north side. Which brings us to this LCD Soundsystem record. Indirectly and unknowingly this record set #TheUpsideEternal in motion. The record closes with a song titled, "New York I Love You, but You're Bringing Me Down". James Murphy's love/hate relationship with his hometown New York inspired us to write our album opener, "Local", which then led to the album closer, "Eternal". The conception of these two songs really solidified the thematic direction of our album. Thanks James.

From the beginning we wanted The Upside Eternal to be a team effort - from the music, to the design and photography, to the videos. And most importantly we wanted everyone involved to be based in Chicago. A great example of this effort is the Kingdoms Falling video shoot; a true team effort. We location scouted w/ @cameronmichael8 Brought in @taelor_gray (an honorary Chicagoan 😏)for the shoot. We asked @swayday to take the helm of filming and @chicago_stunna to document. And lastly we had long time ALERT312 video collaborator Mark Anthony Gonzalez to act in the vid as well. The greatest feeling was celebrating a job well done on shoot day - cheers, hi fives, hugs and pride of creating art to the glory of God. Kingdoms Falling is live on YouTube. Link in bio.

Everything ALERT312 does is intentional. Every rap is thought out and the music is ran through a ringer. But the Upside single was something special- %95 percent of the song was done in a single session. Moral One delivered the core of the song (drums, Rhodes and bass) in a single session, and Booga wrote the song in one sitting. The best thing about it is that the vocals you hear today are the "demo" vocals he laid the day he wrote the song. We wish the rest of the album was this easy...

It was cool to wrap up this record with original Alert312 member Boom Jones. Boom's upright bass session really embodied what this record sounds like: live, intimate, warm, soulful and perfectly flawed. To hear the pluck of the bass strings and the hissing of the air in the room, Booms playing really brought this final song to life. We can't wait to share these batch of songs with you all.
