My new tattoo: A novel. 📝 • Last November, just before my 37th birthday, I watched in awe & appreciation as @traceeellisross gave her Glamour #WOTY talk. She was reflecting on her life and at the same time, speaking to me about mine. She shared an anecdote of when she (being an enlightened lady after-all) took to free writing in her journal and eventually, out sprawled the words “My life is mine.” In *her* moment, she was brought to tears and in *that* moment, so was I. I immediately put the quote in my notes and for a year it has been a necessary affirmation through some painfully challenging & also beautifully triumphant times. So now, here I am having just turned 38, feeling like this sentiment is becoming even more true as time goes on; as I do the hard work to stake claim to all that I want both from myself and for myself. • Please, do yourself a favor - google & go watch Tracee’s speech.
