Doomed siblings have me on a chokehold in a way no trope can ever achieve. Something so gut wrenchingly beautiful about two kids going through unimaginable trauma and coming out damaged forever. I always eat it up. Maybe they stay together and find solace only in each other, used and kicked out by society! Maybe they end up on opposite sides of the war! I don’t agree with a lot of fandom takes on astarion but some of my favorites are the ones that recognize that he’s such a whiny little bitch. not to invalidate his character, he’s obviously got genuine emotions, trauma, and issues, but he’s also a petty little ass who will moan for an hour and a half about shadowheart healing him two minutes too slow. complains about his feet 10 minutes into a march. discovers mosquitoes and is immediately sent into a murderous rage by two (2) mosquito bites.

I can only assume the reason Karlach doesn't have curly hair is because when playtested larian found that 99% of players wouldn't talk to any other character in the game because they would all just instantly fall in love with her

Ketheric Thorm's whole story really got me. I like to spend a lot of time thinking of media as metaphor, which is probably why I'm an arthouse horror bitch, but I digress... I think my big takeaway from his storyline is that if you love greatly and you mourn someone, either you adapt to that and learn how to have meaning in your life while bearing that wound, or you cannot move forward. Whether or not Ketheric Thorm actively thought about this when making his life choices, he ended up isolating himself from any loved ones and sealing off any avenue to move forward for himself. If he couldn't have his daughter back he would spend the rest of his life alone with that grief, giving all of his energy to death. And if your life is no longer about the people you love, what they meant to you, or what you can do for the people around you... When your life is ONLY about what death has taken from you, you are worshiping it, you are its devotee. Of course he was Myrkul's chosen.
