Most people would think Josephine came from a wealthy family from how she carried herself but it was far from the truth. In fact, from a young age she was working alongside her mother who was a maid for a motel. The two of them also lived there, seeing as though Josephine’s father had left before she was even born. She never knew who her father was but it didn’t bother her at all, thinking of her mother as the best parent a girl could have. That’s also who she got the nickname Fifi from which became what she went by most of the time. Even as a child she loved working at the motel, getting to know the longterm guests there, and the staff started to feel like family. All she ever needed was there. That’s why from a young age she knew that she wanted to work in hospitality. It didn’t seem like a big dream to have but Fifi knew that she could do something amazing with it, wanting to continue to help people find a home somewhere as she had. Her mother wanted the best things for her daughter and saved up to send her to the school of her dreams which happened to be in France. Fifi worked hard in school, eventually earning herself an spot in a hospitality program and moving away from the only place she’d ever called home. Upon arriving in France she was excited to start soaking in the culture and this was also where she got her first real job, sending as much money as she could back to her mother. It was small but it was the least she could do to continue helping out the woman that always made her her baby girl’s dreams could come true.
After graduation was when she got a position at the Bete estate, wanting to make sure she did her best to keep it and move up the ladder. Fifi was focused on her work around the home. Mrs. Potts was her mentor in showing her how to care for the home as well as those inside of it. She was being set up to take over as head of house and allow the woman some much needed time off to spend with her son. Fifi loved her job and worked as hard as she could to make sure the Bete estate was in perfect order. The kitchen was bustling, the table was set, the garden hedges trimmed, and at the beck & call of the the master of the house. Although, it turned out this place had more to offer her than just changing bed sheets and that came in the form of Blaise Lumiere. From the moment they met he was flirtatious, though Fifi always rebuffed his attempts at getting with her. She didn’t want to get involved with anyone at her place of work but found him quite charming the more time they spent together. Fifi had a future ahead of her, not wanting anyone to stand in her way.
Of course her dreams of one day getting a job as the head of house in a fantastic hotel in New York, finally able to take care of her mother, were brought to an abrupt halt after a woman came to visit Adam. He rejected her asks for help and in turn him and his entire staff suffered the consequences. Josephine was cursed with the rest of her colleagues. What was stolen from her was her ability to go home ever again, having forgotten entirely where she came from and losing all sense of direction. Navigating became near impossible and she was left knowing a part of her was missing, though being unable to find it. That’s when she settled into complacency at the Bete estate. This was also when she finally gave in to her feelings towards Blaise and began dating him, slowly starting to believe he might actually be the man she ended up marrying. No one else was ever able to get close to her since they did not understand the curse but he was going through the same kind of loss. That was until she discovered he hadn’t been entirely faithful, flirting with another girl at the estate and she didn’t want to know anymore. Fifi promptly ended things but promised to keep their relationship professional, as they had nowhere else to work. Since then she’s still considered herself quite closed off to the idea of love but works her very best to keep things moving throughout the house. Fifi doesn’t leave as often as she likes, though now that the orders are closed she knows she can’t wander too far. A part of her secretly hopes that through this they are able to find a cure for the curses they all have accustomed to and perhaps she can finally remember the place where she knows there is someone who truly loves her.
