First bulletin board completed!: Interactive board for residents to showcase their goals for the year
Serving as one of our programs, Onteria and I shot the above video to illustrate the subjectivity of the Avant Garde learning community within Joseph T. Robert Hall. We interviewed a few of our residents to learn their perceptions of what it means to be "Avant Garde," and also listened to their respcetive journeys on how they came to this illustrious institution.
On Thursday, October 17, 2013, prior to the official launch of homecoming, the Robert Hall staff hosted a hall meeting to make residents aware of specific homecoming etiquette techniques and precautions including visitation rules and regulations, hoemcoming "dos" and "don'ts," and quiet hours within the residence hall.
During this meeting, we also completed our residence hall directory and received a speech from our residence hall presidence, Seretsi Lekena.
Ain Ealey and myself both interned at BET Networks during the summer of 2013, through the help of the T. Howard Foundation. Here we are sharing out experiences and encouraging the AUC attendees to apply.
On Thursday, September 19, I hosted our first program of the semester titled Robert Hall presents... T. Howard Foundation Informational and Application Session.
I am an alum of the T. Howard Foundation, a non-profit organization that recruits minority students from colleges and universities throughout the United States (especially HBCUs) to intern at multimedia corporations throughout the country. Serving as the THF campus ambassador for Morehouse College, I decided to host a program to get the word out, and ultimately encourage more AUC students to apply for this opportunity.
Yvonne Ngundam, a representative from the T. Howard Foundation came to campus and spoke to the attendees during the event, as well as distributed materials about the organization and how to apply.
On Thursday, September 12, 2013, I, along with Onteria Harris, hosted our first hall meeting of the semester. During the meeting, we covered a variety of topics, including official staff and resident introductions, R.E.A.C.H. conversations, community standards, and resident-RA communication. We also officially introduced our hall queen to the residents.
Robert Hall 2013-2014 staff preparations.
First Annual Robert Hall Portrait (2013):
On Thursday, April 18, the residents of Joseph T. Robert Hall gathered on the steps of the historical building to take a commemorative photo that they can take with them as some of them end their undergraduate careers here at Morehouse College.
Along with the group portrait, each resident will receive an individual professional head shot that he may use in his future endeavors.
Robert Hall informational program and tour.
The Resident Advisors of Joseph T. Robert Hall, Moriba Cummings and Brandon Anderson, hosted this program to interested students who varied from freshmen to juniors. The attendees were all interested in become a part of the Avant Garde learning community.
After providing the attendees with a brief history or Robert Hall, along with a description of the Robert Hall criteria and experience, a question and answer period ensued, followed by a tour of the residence hall.
Robert Hall has once again earned the HIGHEST GPA among all on-campus residence halls! Congratulations, residents!!!!
Robert Hall/T. Howard Foundation Internship informational program:
I interned with CNN's Headline News during the Summer of 2012 through the T. Howard Foundation. This organization puts minority students in direct contact with high profile companies in the media and entertainment industry.
Serving as campus ambassador for the T. Howard Foundation's Morehouse College cohort, I hosted a program in collaboration with my residence hall, Robert Hall, to spread the word about the foundation and to encourage more Morehouse students to apply.
Designed our Robert Hall Community Standard posters.
Meant to post this photo to Tumblr for a while now!
Hall program: "You Got Game... Robert Hall Madden Tournament."
Created this flyer for the program using Power Point :-s
For such an alternative, I think it came out pretty well.
Upperclassman Check-In has officially begun! Bring on the residents...
Our bulletin boards are finally done! All of the hard work has finally paid off!
