FORMER COPILOT (6+ YEARS AGO)
jaeger program (non-ranger), 40+ years old
preemptively feeling things out and seeing if anyone who browses the tag is interested in filling a request! this is for ilona ming (lucy liu) who used to be an iatom canon, with her and her copilot's ranger career as one of the shortest in history. she and her copilot had gone on only a few missions (i'm thinking maybe two) before their last one, which destroyed their jaeger. she then traveled over to the western shatterdome and became a loccent officer. after both domes were destroyed, she lost faith in the ppdc and was poached by ark initiative to be their chief press officer. she has been an avid supporter of ark ever since.

ilona and her copilot met in the jaeger program and immediately clicked. one idea i had for his/her bg was that they were similar to her: they came from a rich and privileged family, and it was only when they got older that they fought against them - by entering the jaeger academy.
their jaeger was called sunset bravada, their baby and their everything. during that third mission, something went awry and a kaiju caught them by surprise. their jaeger was destroyed, the copilot was fine for the most part (or maybe they were injured, up to you!!!) and ilona took on some injuries.
she was completely shattered emotionally/mentally after that, her entire life was built around her body’s mobility. it took her two years to recover and from there we can build up what has happened with them history/development-wise! like mentioned earlier, she ends up defecting from the jaeger program and, without notice, suddenly becomes ark's new ~voice, which made waves and pissed off a lot of ppdc folk haha.
i would very much like the copilot have either stayed in the jaeger program, or left and then came back when the program was retired (bc it ~stirred up feelings~)
both ilona and her copilot were original from the areas surrounding the eastern shatterdome, i'd prefer if the nationality/ethnicity were either russian, australian/new zealander, or from an asian country. age should be 40+ years old. (ilona is 42)
gender is open, idris elba is only one suggested face of many that i could recommend, i would prefer a poc face claim. this pairing could be either platonic or romantic, i don't really mind either, and it'll be a fun but very strained relationship by the fact that ilona is a part of ark. :c
