Prambanan temple and Ganesha Vishnu idols, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia Ross Savill wrote: Candi Prambanan temple, built in the 9th century, dedicated to the three main Hindu deities - Brahma the creator deity, Vishnu the guardian deity, and Shiva the god of destruction. The largest Hindu temple in Indonesia.
I took a tour to learn about the ancient stories around each statue in each temple and stroked Ganesha’s trunk three times and held my hand to my forehead to improve my memory, while touching the feet of another statue to bring me happiness.
Also stopped to take photos with maybe 30-40 different people in total and helped two different groups of school kids complete interviews in English as foreigners are something of a novelty! A good day. (via Instagram: Ross Savill)
