indestrxctcble:
sure, albus wasn’t actually mean and anyone who got to know him could tell that. he just had built a lot of walls through the years and his parents disappearance only made them tougher and left him colder than he was before. “ well, stupid questions get stupid answers. ” he said matter of factly looking over at her with a sarcastic smile left on his lips. “ just shut up, carrow. ” he spoke sharply. he wasn’t in the mood to listen to people talk about his parents in any form. “ do you need something ? or you just here to be a bother ? ”
hera laughed quietly to herself. she took pleasure in taunting her peers; especially the potter siblings. “oh, potter. I was only trying to make a light joke.” she said, mimicking a soft tone. “well, actually; I came to find you so I could offer you my deepest condolences. but if you’re going to speak to me like that...then I say good riddance.”
redvmvncy:
“well you see, i would take the blame if i was a seer and saw that you were going to walk here and stood here on purpose so you would walk into me. however, i’m not one.” he said crossing his arms. “and it’s very rare i take blame for anything really.”
hera was finding their encounter rather amusing, so she played along. “aren’t you a stubborn one. you sound like an insufferable, whiny little first year.” she remarked, tossing her blonde hair over her shoulder. “well i’m not saying sorry, so I guess we’ll leave it there, shall we?”
redvmvncy:
elias was leaning against the wall watching everyone just walk around, some heading to class, others getting away. “you were kind of the one to bump into someone who wasn’t moving.” he chuckled.
hera looked elias up and down briefly, before meeting his gaze. “my apologies.” she said nonchalantly, brushing a loose strand of blonde hair away from her eyes. hera smiled faintly and continued, “either way, you were still stood where I was planning to walk. maybe we can compromise and both take the blame.” she teased.
vivianncs:
vivianne was terrified to share anything about her own family background, even among friends, so she bit her tongue on her first comment — that she lucked out with her father being in azkaban. “ do you reckon it’s because of salazar’s army? ” she couldn’t help but ask, curious as to hera’s father suddenly making the effort. “ your wish is my command, i think i stashed something — ” she paused, wiggling one of the bricks loose behind her, only to pull out a small bottle and holding it up like treasure. “ right there. ”
hera sighed to herself, “it has to be because of salazar’s army. there’s no other reason why he’d bother to contact me. I haven’t seen him in seventeen years; a year after my mother left him, he was imprisoned in azkaban. again. judging by this letter i’d say he’s out.” she said to vivianne nervously. hera practically began drooling when vivianne revealed her secret alcohol. “viv, darling. you’re an absolute lifesaver.”
karinedsmrs:
“That’s funny. Libraries at my last school were often littered with students no matter the time.” The library at Hogwarts truly did have a feeling of comfort, though. While the library and the International Witches Academy was more stark and bright in color, this one was warm and inviting. She ran a hand on various bookshelves as they passed them, watching Hera with every step. “I love trouble, I just don’t like being publicly acknowledged for the trouble I get into until I accomplish my goal.” She smiled at the girl, softening the expression on her face. “But the goal tonight was getting to know you and seeing what you had to show me… So, I suppose trouble wouldn’t be too terrible now.”
God, she was really trying to work the room. All for the library goal. They reached the gates, which looked relatively simple enough to sneak past, but she had to reserve herself. “I think this is the part where you’re to show me how you prefer to crack these open.”
“i see,” hera continued, “well then; lucky for you I don’t get caught.” she added with a smirk as they approached the restricted section. “it’s really quite simple. but nobody would be caught dead doing this in the daytime.” she told karine. hera said the spell softly and calmly to ensure that nobody would hear them “alohomora.” they were now able to walk straight in without any trouble. “oh, and I appreciate you wanting to get to know me. i’d quite like to learn a little bit more about you, too.” was she flirting? maybe. hera wasn’t entirely sure herself.
fairmercer:
His nose wrinkled when he glanced at what she had been reading. Transfiguration happened to the subject he least liked and it reminded him he should work harder this year…or he could procrastinate. “That’s okay…” When Hera stood, Mercer took that as a sign of help. He offered her a kind smile. “After lunchtime. I’ve checked some other classrooms, but nothing.”
hera thought about how devastated she’d be if her own cat dissapeared, and quickly made the decision to help mercer. “you don’t think someone’s hidden them as part of a cruel joke, do you?” hera asked. she knew how some of their peers could be, especially those who were in slytherin house. “but then again, would anyone have a reason to hide your cat?”
vivianncs:
“ you know me, ever the gallant saviour of those in need, ” she replied, pulling her friend along as she started walking — a little faster when hera spoke her next sentence, to get them into a quiet little alcove behind a tapestry nearby. vivianne supposed this was a private conversation, so she cast a quick muffliato charm behind them, to make sure no one overheard. “ are you ok? what did it say? — if you want to talk about it, of course. ”
recieving a letter from her father had made hera want to rip it up and throw it in a fire, but she hadn't done so yet. instead, hera had been keeping it in her cloak pocket all morning. "it appears amycus carrow has decided he finally wants to be in his daughter's life." she confided in her friend, trying her best not to become vexed at the very thought of him. "what were you saying about getting drunk? i think i'd quite like to do that now, if you don't mind."
vivianncs:
“ scaring the kids already, hera? ” vivianne watched the younger looking student quickly rush off after colliding with her friend, an amused look on her face. “ what’s got your panties in a bunch? — feel free to turn that into a sex reference, ” she added, grabbing the blonde by her arm and hooking her own through it. “ i’m bored, you seem angry — wanna get drunk? ”
hera was oddly relieved when vivianne stopped her from almost yelling at a first year. “thank god you found me viv.” she said, giving her a friendly smile when vivianne linked her arm with her own. hera sighed loudly as she prepared herself to answer her friend’s question. “my father wrote me a letter, it arrived this morning. so please, break out the champagne.” she mumbled, looking down at the ground.
karinedsmrs:
“Definitely so. I’ve already been told not to bother trying to get in if I don’t have a professor’s note- so, thank you, Hera. I’ve been needing a reason to sneak in, and who better to do that with than you?” She actually had all the reason in the world to sneak in- pursuit of knowledge, morbid curiosity… But it was easier with someone else, just to see what the Restricted Section’s guarding was like. “Sounds like I hooked onto the right person then. Are you often in trouble here, though?” Karine let go of the girls hand, and quietly began pushing the library doors open. “Because… I’m afraid I can’t have that.”
“it’s getting late now, so i highly doubt anybody’s going to be lurking in the library at this time of night. you’d think the teachers would go in there after hours, but they don’t.” she informed karine. hera smiled faintly to herself when karine asked if she was in trouble there often. “you can’t have that? really. and do you mind me asking why?” hera asked curiously as she walked through the library doors.
karinedsmrs:
Karine laughed. The restricted section. She started towards the library, hand in hand with the Carrow girl. “Why anyone would bar students from books on their grounds is beyond me. If it’s there, it should be open to the world.” A sigh left her lips. “If they want to keep certain areas of magic quiet all they have to do is move it to… The Headmasters quarters, or something along those lines. And hey- do you have a habit of sneaking around?” There was no way she was put off by the idea, either., which she hope showed when she lightly squeezed the girls hand after the statement. A person she could sneak around with was a person worth keeping.
hera nodded gently, “the library is full of interesting reads, but the best books are supposed to be left untouched by students. it’s a pity, isn’t it?” she told karine, a smirk emerging on her pale lips. “i wouldn’t call it a habit, but i’m not the most well behaved student at hogwarts.” she added, thrilled by the idea of sneaking around the castle after curfew.
indestrxctcble:
madi smiled at the others sigh feeling more relaxed than she had been all day. “ oh ! i must have forgotten to introduce myself. ” she said quickly at the others next statement. “ i’m madison flint but, honestly, call me madi. no one but my mum and dad call me madison. ” the hufflepuff said with a simple nod of her head. “ what’s your name ? ”
hera held out her hand for madison to shake, “it’s nice to meet you, madi. my name’s hera carrow.” she replied, knowing the girl would most likely be aware of her family’s horrendously dark past. “well, thank you ever so much for not screaming at me when i bumped into you. unfortunately i know a few people who would have done.”
karinedsmrs:
“Don’t be. I likely wouldn’t have found you so quickly if it hadn’t.”
Underestimation was easy for people here, or so it seemed. Dignity was important to hold and pride just as much, but never if it led to people blocking themselves off from believing in others. Of course, it did make sense for her not to know her- that is, if Karine wasn’t determined to study everyone. “You’ll do well not to underestimate me, though I suppose the same could be said for you, hm?” Karine stood and dusted off her dress, holding out a hand to Hera as she did. She looked down and gestured for the girl to take it. “I’d like to see more of what this place is made of. I’m growing tired of the dorms… And the pitch, here.”
“oh believe me dear, I don’t plan to underestimate you at all.” hera of course already had plenty of friends in slytherin house, although it was always a pleasure to make new ones. hera took karine’s hand with a grin, “why don’t we go to the restricted section in the library first? it’s not as tame as you’d think.” she added excitedly. she was sure karine wouldn’t mind sneaking around.
indestrxctcble:
“ well aren’t you just lovely, carrow, ” he said sarcasm masking his tone. he hoped a question about his parents wasn’t coming. he even didn’t want to talk about it with his scorpius and the two were basically inseparable. so, the brunette knew there was no chance he’d be talking about it with hera. “ oh you know, just playing a game of quidditch. “ he said in a tone could have been serious before holding his Defense Against The Dark Arts textbook. “ i’m doing schoolwork. what does it look like i’m doing ? ”
hera was somewhat envious of albus; she supposed he’d had a perfect childhood with his perfect parents, whereas her parents had divorced when she was still very young and her father had winded up back in azkaban. “i was only asking you a question, potter.” she snapped. hera was now eager to take a jab at albus. “defence against the dark arts, hm? i bet mommy and daddy know all about that.”
karinedsmrs:
“That makes absolutely no sense considering the arm you have there.” With the rumors she had heard about Hera, she had to assume the girl got the position one way or another- but that was one way for people to surprise. Karine let the girl scan her, not removing eye contact from her face. “Do people not often know your name? The Carrow family is pretty ingrained in the culture, is it not? And yes,” Funny, hearing her name on spoken only by British accents these days, “That’s me. Mind showing a girl around more of your favorite spots on the grounds?”
Always looking to gather information, that one.
hera stifled a chuckle, “again, i’m terribly sorry that my bottle almost hit you.” she said genuinely. “not necessarily; i just assumed that since we’d never met before that you wouldn’t have been able to put a name to my face. i suppose i underestimated you.” hera added with a sly smirk, before nodding. “of course, i’d be happy to give you a little tour.”
indestrxctcble:
albus groaned softly at the girl’s voice but he refused to look up. sure, the two were teammates but that was it. they weren’t friends by any means and she was easily not what he wanted to be dealing at the moment. “ it also seems it was bold of me to think you’d be more anymore polite than you were last year. ” he said.
hera rolled her eyes sharply in response to his comment, “i am polite, just not towards you. if you must know.” she replied rather abruptly. hera was curious and wanted to ask albus about his parents, but she knew that doing so probably wasn’t appropriate. “what are you doing sat here, anyways?”
