“Are your hands cold? Here, let me warm them up.”
You saw as his warm breath caused a cloud of vapor to form in the air.
You two were currently walking back to your place in the cold winter air because you wanted to check out this new Cafe that opened up around the corner. Of course, you decided to walk and torture yourself a bit because you decided you didn’t need a heated vehicle to take you only a measly 4 blocks down.
“That’s nice of you Cho!”
You slipped your hand into his grasp and looked up at him with a cute smile.
Of course, you really knew that he just wanted to hold your hand, but you would never admit that to him. You didn’t want to embarrass the poor boy more than how he already got when asking to simply hold your hand. (Even if he never asked directly)
As you slipped your fingers between his, you looked up and saw how red his ears were turning. He tucked his face deeper into his scarf to hide his face, since he couldn’t stop the smile he got from getting to feel your touch.
Just a few more minutes and you arrived back at your place. After going inside, slipping your coats off, and curling up on the couch to watch some TV, Choso did it again.
“Here, let me help,” he offered to assist in your search for a movie while he carefully placed his hand over yours on the remote, helping to look for something to watch.
After finding what seemed to be a good movie, he curled up against your stomach while you gently played with his hair.
Suddenly, two characters in the movie started comparing hand sizes, and Choso took that as the perfect opportunity to touch your hand.
He grabbed it gently, bringing it up to his before you finally realized what he was doing.
“Your hand is bigger, but that’s pretty typical,” you commented, bringing your palm flat up against his.
“yeah…” he mumbled, wrapping his fingers around your hand while he inched closer to you, resting his head on your shoulder.
You finally decided to break his pattern.
“Cho, if you wanna hold my hand, all you gotta do is ask. Or you could just grab it, I won’t mind.”
He’s ears immediately turned back to that pinkish shade, finally realizing he was caught.
“sorry… it’s just a habit…” he murmured, turning his head and glancing up at you.
“So then, what should you ask?” You say, pulling your hand away from his, watching his expression turn a little sad.
Reasons Why Fans of Color Leave/Don’t Interact with Fandom
Casual racism that is brushed off as “an innocent mistake” or “they didn’t mean it” and then everyone pretending like it didn’t happen and moving on with their day (repeat)
Speaking over fans of color about issues that pertain to them specifically
When fans of color speak out about something that makes them uncomfortable or why that don’t interact with it (usually because of the racial/ethnic bias) they are accused of being anti’s or pro-censorship
Characters of color being used as scapegoats/bashed/plot devices
Characters of color never getting happy endings/real development
Backlash against characters of color if they do anything other than be a white character’s side kick/best friend
Actors of characters of color being harassed for something their character did or didn’t do
White characters/actors getting all the attention/credit despite the fact that they are a side character to a POC or on the same level as the POC
Fanfic authors patting themselves on the back for writing a “realistic” character of color and it’s just a bunch of stereotypes
Being told that they should be happy they were even included when they call out the above people
White fans crying about persecution/exclusion because their fav character/trope/kink/ship isn’t loved by all
Fan artists re-imaging characters of color as white/lightening skin tone
Everyone rushing to a white fans defense after a well deserved call out while the fan of color receives hate
Never having a safe fandom space and always having to be on guard with new people/fandoms/chats etc because they’ve been burned before
Anyone and everyone CAN write. The world’s most skilled writer didn’t start off skilled. The key is that they practice hard by writing a lot.
As long as you write, you are practicing your craft and you are getting better at writing. But you will never get anywhere if you let AI write for you.
