intro things,,

my name is moss (obviously) and i have been making art since i unlocked hand dexterity. i have another blog specifically for writing, but that's not what this is about :) i WILL NOT do art requests, but at some point i will be looking into opening commissions (starting with a yippee ych lmao). ask questions, interact, do anything, i crave human connection,, I WILL DO ART PROMPTS IF THEY INTEREST ME THOUGH!

It's so so important to look back and see how far you've come; you might not even know how much you've improved!

When I was younger I used to practice practice practice drawing eyes, I would fill whole pages trying to understand their shapes. I was confident in my work under the philosophy; the eyes are the window to the soul. As I got older I rarely looked back at my old work - too caught up on how 'bad' it looked. I knew I improved but I was to self conscious and self loathing to be able to properly congratulate myself on how far I'd come.

TLDR;

Celebrate yourself and your improvements! Look back with joy and say 'look how far I've come'. Don't hate or throw out your old art!!

I still remember making this, I went with some family friends on a short fishing trip, and I have no interest in fishing so I brought my sketchbook. There was a fallen log dipping into the swampy waters so I climbed to the middle of it (praying I didn't drop my supplies) and sat down to draw. It wasn't my first still life or landscape piece but I remember being particularly proud of it once finished due to how different it was to everything else I was making at the time.
