Tea advice
Mentally strong people have healthy habits. They manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in ways that set them up for success in life. Check out these things that mentally strong people don’t do so that you too can become more mentally strong.
1. They Don’t Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves Mentally strong people don’t sit around feeling sorry about their circumstances or how others have treated them. Instead, they take responsibility for their role in life and understand that life isn’t always easy or fair.
2. They Don’t Give Away Their Power They don’t allow others to control them, and they don’t give someone else power over them. They don’t say things like, “My boss makes me feel bad,” because they understand that they are in control over their own emotions and they have a choice in how they respond.
3. They Don’t Shy Away from Change Mentally strong people don’t try to avoid change. Instead, they welcome positive change and are willing to be flexible. They understand that change is inevitable and believe in their abilities to adapt.
4. They Don’t Waste Energy on Things They Can’t Control You won’t hear a mentally strong person complaining over lost luggage or traffic jams. Instead, they focus on what they can control in their lives. They recognize that sometimes, the only thing they can control is their attitude.
5. They Don’t Worry About Pleasing Everyone Mentally strong people recognize that they don’t need to please everyone all the time. They’re not afraid to say no or speak up when necessary. They strive to be kind and fair, but can handle other people being upset if they didn’t make them happy.
6. They Don’t Fear Taking Calculated Risks They don’t take reckless or foolish risks, but don’t mind taking calculated risks. Mentally strong people spend time weighing the risks and benefits before making a big decision, and they’re fully informed of the potential downsides before they take action.
7. They Don’t Dwell on the Past Mentally strong people don’t waste time dwelling on the past and wishing things could be different. They acknowledge their past and can say what they’ve learned from it. However, they don’t constantly relive bad experiences or fantasize about the glory days. Instead, they live for the present and plan for the future.
8. They Don’t Make the Same Mistakes Over and Over Mentally strong people accept responsibility for their behavior and learn from their past mistakes. As a result, they don’t keep repeating those mistakes over and over. Instead, they move on and make better decisions in the future.
9. They Don’t Resent Other People’s Success Mentally strong people can appreciate and celebrate other people’s success in life. They don’t grow jealous or feel cheated when others surpass them. Instead, they recognize that success comes with hard work, and they are willing to work hard for their own chance at success.
10. They Don’t Give Up After the First Failure Mentally strong people don’t view failure as a reason to give up. Instead, they use failure as an opportunity to grow and improve. They are willing to keep trying until they get it right.
11. They Don’t Fear Alone Time Mentally strong people can tolerate being alone and they don’t fear silence. They aren’t afraid to be alone with their thoughts and they can use downtime to be productive. They enjoy their own company and aren’t dependent on others for companionship and entertainment all the time but instead can be happy alone.
12. They Don’t Feel the World Owes Them Anything Mentally strong people don’t feel entitled to things in life. They weren’t born with a mentality that others would take care of them or that the world must give them something. Instead, they look for opportunities based on their own merits.
13. They Don’t Expect Immediate Results Whether they are working on improving their health or getting a new business off the ground, mentally strong people don’t expect immediate results. Instead, they apply their skills and time to the best of their ability and understand that real change takes time.
Man. TIL that I am mentally weak.
Remember this.
Whew what a crazy past couple of days. We've been planning a 40th anniversary party for my in-laws at our house the last couple months and it finally happened last night. This was a surprise party and considering we live right next to them, this was quite a feat to pull off. With all the craziness of getting things ready, I haven't been able to post my foods, but I have been tracking on MFP and I'm right on track. Today was a nice restful day after yesterday's madness and apart from going to teach Sunday School, I did nothing but lay around. I finally got myself motivated to go run around 5:30 tonight and it was so great. It was an easy 2 miles and for me to ever think about saying anything about 2 miles being easy is incomprehensible. It also made me realize that I need to get a vest or reflective tape or something because running on these country roads in the dark is not my idea of smart. I need to be back to posting my foods and workouts this week. Oh and I missed posting my weigh in Friday too!! 11/1 - 218.6 11/8 - 216.6 11/15 - 214.4 I am soooo happy with the progress I'm making!!!!
Sometimes I suck at life
Know what happens when you don't write down appointments? You get up at 4:45 so you can be at the gym by 6 for an RMA only to find out that today is your personal training session at 5 pm and your RMA is on Thursday at 6 am. And you didn't wear the right clothes to the gym this morning - no sports bra - so you can't workout and have to go buy a new bra at lunch so you can be equipped for the workout tonight. Granted, I could use a new one, but still. At least I got in a good 1.5 hours before anyone showed up at work to annoy me. Here's hoping this day improves soon. Ugh!
It's 11/12/13 and a cold front just blew in dropping the temp down to a very un-Texan temperature. This music is so happening today.

Happy Veteran's Day! So thankful for all the men and women who have served and are serving, especially my Pawpaw and two of my cousins - Daniel and Matt - Army and Navy. So proud of them. Today was a decent day as far as food goes. I struggled this afternoon with mental issues and finally said screw it and had a smoothie. Granted, it's all fruit with no extra funk in it, it still goes against my plan for the month. And I could definitely feel the effects of too much sugar - natural though it was - later in the afternoon. I talked with my sister for awhile tonight about thanksgiving foods. I'm so excited she'll be here as she's even more focused on nutrition than I am and if there is more than one of us eating right, it will get less of the "well why aren't you eating like the rest of is" comments. Her's is out of major necessity as she suffers from intercystial cystitis and has to really watch what she eats. I think we've got a plan. We're going to make grain free dressing, roasted fall vegetables, homemade cranberry and blueberry sauce, roasted green beans, possibly some sweet potato biscuits, and a fruit pizza with almond crust and whipped coconut milk topping. Tomorrow morning I go for my resting metabolic assessment at the gym. I'm not real sure what I'm going to get out of this, but I'll be interested to see what they show I actually burn by just being me and their suggested calorie intake/burn for optimal weight loss. Not looking forward to waking up at 4:45 to go do it though. Food: Fajita egg casserole // beef fajita meat/guacamole/tomatoes/black olives/sugar snap peas // apple/nuttzo // strawberry banana pineapple smoothie // salad with romaine/chicken/tomatoes/corn/shrooms/roasted garlic hummus/Caesar dressing Exercise: None. For the test tomorrow I have to have been resting for 24-36 hours. Now sleeeeeeeep. So tired.
this is AWESOME! :)
Need. Them. All.
Need to find these!

Today was such a great day! Long long long day, but amazing. Ran the race, went home and spaced out for a bit, went and helped paint my grandma's house, went to the grocery store and ended up at a health expo next door, then the parents came over for supper. While they were here my mom cleaned Samantha's room...love when she comes over. Food: turkey & hummus rollup/apple // ground beef/zucchini/mushroom with ketchup // roasted chicken thigh/leg/wing/green beans from golden chick // beef fajita meat/beans/chips/guacamole/salsa Exercise: 3.14 kick ass miles of running. I can't wait to run on Tuesday.
Oh heck yeah! My goal was to run this in under 39 minutes and I did it!! The course was pretty hilly as it's downtown Austin, but I managed to run all of it except the last half of a few hills and still had enough energy to kill it at the finish line. I ran/walked my last 5k last year at just under 41 minutes and then stopped running after that. I started back up 8 weeks ago and it's amazing the difference I felt. Granted, I felt like dying part of the time, I still did it and this is the first time I have ever ever had negative splits like that. Today I actually feel like a runner.

Today was a mommy and Sam day. Even though she woke me up at 6:30, we laid around until 8:30 before making a move. Then it was donut shop (for her), HEB, baby shower, niece's birthday party, seeing Mimaw and Pawpaw, then finally home. Matt was hunting all day and made it home in time for supper. Fair though because he'll have her tomorrow while I'm at the race. Food: bacon/onion/sweet potato/ spinach egg scramble // rotisserie chicken/hummus/sugar snap peas/apple // grapes // hamburger and onions/sautéed mushrooms/zucchini Exercise: None. Again. So much for being ready to run tomorrow. I haven't run since Thursday. We'll see how the race goes. My goal originally was 36 min, but now I'm just shooting for under 40.

I bought a Fitbit Flex today! I looked all over for a Force but apparently there was not one to found in the greater Austin area today. I'l be interested to see how my sleep is tonight. Food: rotisserie chicken/hummus/carrots // Logan's Roadhouse salmon/baked sweet potato/steamed broccoli // apple/nuttzo // grilled chicken with onion and bell pepper/broccoli // grapes Exercise: Nadda. I suck this week.
