Winter Gourd Juice Drink

Initial Reaction:

Vi: I was honestly shopping for some other stuff (aka ice cream) when I asked Alg to pick something out for us to try out, so I had no hand in this one. My only thing was to make sure it was out of the cooler (which is why we're not talking about basil seed drink right now).

Alg-int: The real reason we're not talking about basil seed drink is because it was flavored with banana and beyond hating them there is no way i could see the flavors working together. IDK what to expect either, sweet? bitter? pulpy? green? 

ACTUALLY EATING IT:

Vi: I'm so glad I opted for the cold. I really don't think I could have gulped it down other wise. It tastes like bubble tea bubbles, which really threw me for a loop. I also don't think tapioca bubbles are very good warm either, so double yay on the opting for cold!

Alg-Int: Wow that's sweet. Must be the honey as like the 3rd ingredient. It's not a super complex drink but it is a change of pace. A kind of grain yellow-brown color with a thick feel kinda like a good soup stock. It feels like something that'd be perfectly at home in Taiwan. Not something I'd pick up again though when there's yummy aloe.

Hello Kitty Hard Candies

Initial reaction:

Vi: just me today! Came home after d&d to find these waiting for me. I love hello kitty and I love candies so it's a good bet this is going to end nice. Bummer the packs all in Japanese, I can't make out much. I guess there's four kinds and a sticker card thing.

ACTUALLY EATING IT:

Vi: ahhh!! How cute! There's a different shape for every flavor, which represent different seasons. I think I got spring. It was a pink flower blossom, strawberry maybe? The sticker was an autumn sticker, gonna stick it on Alg's computer. (His birthday's in September). Overall quite pleased: cute and sweet. Can't see myself eating more than maybe three at a time.

Hot dog flavored chips

Initial expectations:

Alg-int: I was suspicious, I wasn’t sure what goes into hot dog flavoring. I checked the bag and figured it was going to be mostly mustardy and ketchup, but was still worried they where gonna try to fit in the meaty flavor of hot dog. Packaging was playing up AMERICAAAA.

Vi: I’d seen these for a while and the very concept of hot dog potato clips was bewildering. I’ve never been a fan of chips trying to be food, so I assumed they where nasty.

ACTUALLY EATING THEM:

Alg-int: I was surprised! Quite salty, which is to much tastes. A little bit of vinegar from the mustard, little bit odd sugar from the ketchup. And some how: hot dog. Maybe it’s from the garlic? Overall a lot better than I expected.

Vi: like I said I’m biased and have never been a fan of chips trying to be anything but maybe nachos. I think their disgusting, and after eating them I feel sick.

Blue Sky Green Tea Imperial Lime Soda

Initial impression:

Alg-int: I’m expecting carbonated green tea with a hint of lime. Not sure about that carbonation.

Vi: I’ve had blue sky soda before, and every time it’s been amazing. Its a special treat for me. I usually get it from local grocery store where they sell it in singular cans. High hopes going in!

ACTUALLY EATING IT:

Alg-int: Strongly carbonated, and surprised to see it was clear. Not what I expected, a lot more lime than green tea. It’s not bad, kinda lime sprite for adults. The green tea adds some depth to the citrus soda. Also, really nice packaging.

Vi: We had it at room temperature first, and as before, was really good. Even with my massive sweet tooth I can appreciate the subtle sweetness of blue sky sodas. I really like the combination, it’s nice to see a different take on green tea. I think it’s really refreshing for summer, and I can’t wait to try it chilled. At 2$ a six pack, it’s a great deal and perfect for the end of summer.
