Greetings, Random Tenno!

I did not know Teshin Dax during the Old War. When he first resurfaced in the modern era, I admit I largely thought of him as a thorn in my side - his questioning and meddling forced me to out myself as Hunhow's daughter, and later to allow the Tenno into the peril of the Kuva Fortress. Though..."allow" is not quite the right word, nor is "forced" in the latter case. He led them neatly into the Elder Queen's trap; they had every choice to abandon the mission, though I cannot think of a single Tenno who would have left him at the Queens' mercy. Whether or not he had the ulterior motive of sending them to that liminal mountain I have heard so much about, I do not know.

I never will know now, I suppose.

As for my current opinion? He was dogmatic and set in his ways, and were he alive today, I think his condition as a Dax would remind me uncomfortably of...how the Orokin controlled me once. And yet he was unfailingly selfless, devoted to helping the Tenno better themselves, even at the cost of his own life - in short, a true friend to the Tenno, which made him a friend of mine. We did not exactly know each other personally, but his passing will leave a hole in the social fabric of the Relays for years to come. He will be sorely missed.

Hello Spacemom, hope you’re doing okay with everything going on in the Origin System at the moment! Especially with… Erra and all. Goes without saying but he shouldn’t have spoken to you the way he did, I’m sorry you had to go through that :(

My question to you is, what sorts of Sentient powers do you have? Obviously Mimic shapeshift-y stuff + the mouth laser, but is there anything we Tenno haven’t seen yet? (I get the Sentients are a touchy subject so if you’d rather be vague about it that’s totally okay!)

Greetings, very geeky Tenno!

Erra is...was...exactly the variety of Sentient the Orokin feared. Canny, power-hungry, with a talent for swaying others' wills. And yet the Tenno still defeated him in the Old War, with my traitorous help, and the Orokin as well where he could not. He has never forgiven me for choosing what turned out to be the winning side; I am unsure how much of him remains in Pazuul, but if some of his old self does survive, I cannot fault its ire. Older brothers being jealous of their prodigal younger sisters' success, I'm sure you understand.

On to your actual question, though. In my current form, I retain few powers that the Tenno have not already seen. I am a telepath, as are all powerful Sentient consciousnesses, but I displayed that in the incident now immortalized as The Second Dream. My origins as a Mimic do allow me much more shapeshifting capability than others in my family, and I can...defend myself, if the need arises. Another ability, which the Tenno have definitely seen but may not have thought much about, is my ability to handle massive and sometimes conflicting data streams, with the aid of my helmet, my Sentient physiology, and the central computers in my base of operations. Ever wonder how I manage to act as mission control for so many Tenno cells simultaneously?

Idle curiosity, how's the progress on your new mobile base going?

Somewhat slowly, as one might expect, but steadily. I do not yet have a precise time estimate for when it will be finished; however, I assure you that it will happen eventually, and that I am relatively safe in the meantime. Perrin, the Meridian, and Red Veil have been invaluable help on both counts.

Potato is my kubrow, a rescue from Biz who...practically adopted me, rather than the other way around. He enjoys chin scratches and getting into trouble while I’m on comms duty.

Mom, why do we always use that incubator instead of breeding Kubrows and Kavats the old fashioned way? I can understand using the incubator with Vasca Kavats, but why not just let the other kinds of Kavats and Kubrows mate with each other?

Resurrecting breeds of kubrow and kavat from the ancient Orokin days is not a simple process, nor is it an entirely stable one. The vast majority of the kubrows you know and love are genetically modified from the eggs of feral kubrows, while I won’t even pretend to know what goes on during kavat incubation; most are sterile, while the few who can have offspring end up with a similar problem to hyper-hybridized plants - their modified genes fail to present in further generations, resulting in puppies with few of the traits the Orokin bred for and the Tenno so prize.

That said, though, if you wish to breed kubrows or kavats the normal way, perhaps for companionship rather than battle, I will not stop you. If all else fails, the semi-feral population of kubrows and kavats in Fortuna comes heavily of outcrossed Orokin stock; I am sure the Business would not mind an addition or two to his brood.

Uh... Lotus, I'm sorry if this question makes you uncomfortable, but... Do Sentients have pregnancies like humans? Or do they lay eggs like birds? Or do you have factories that you build yourselves in? I've always been curious about that ever since Hunhow called you "the last of my womb".

That depends on whether you are referring to the process of constructing new drones or creating a new Sentient consciousness. Drones are less born and more manufactured, while consciousnesses like Hunhow and myself... As one of the youngest such, I am not entirely certain. All I can say is that the process does involve multiple Sentient “parents.”
