If I missed anyone please don’t hesitate to let me know and I will update the list.
I didn't have someone claiming that only royalty at Versailles were allowed any access to toilet facilities, and everyone else had to walk around with miniature chamber pots strapped to their butt under their dress (men were apparently outta luck!) on my "Versailles myth" bingo card, and yet here we are.
Anyone that knows Ben Franklin was at Versailles knows that man would have written home immediately wbout how the women at Versailles walk around with teeny-weeny chamber pots strapped to their bodies underneath their dresses.
Abigail Adams, too, for that matter. Just for different reasons...
Even regular guards had their own lavatories, this letter from July 1761(found in the O1/1812 of the French National Archives) mentions the necessity to create additional openings and doors in the French and Swiss guards lavatories, as a remedy to the foul-smell.
This document also highlights that people were indeed sensitive to bad smell even in the 18th century. In fact we can read in that letter how the workers charged with completing the work were even given brandy to better support the odour.
As for the courtiers themselves, many had toilet seats in their apartments either inside multi-purpose cabinets or inside a cabinet dedicated to that very purpose, those cabinets were referred as cabinet de la chaise, abbreviated in blueprints as chaise.
