I'm eating this AU up like no tomorrow, but I seriously got to focus on work. This is what happens when I work from home LOL
In this AU, they're in college together and Bernice is the only escape Derek has from his dad and eventually his dad will find out about her and I'm not sure if Berny survives this. As Derek will have to put an end to their relationship. But thinking about cute little moments of them hanging out, before his dad "sets Derek straight", without a care in the world is kind of adorable.
I also love the idea of him having to deal with her pink messy ass room and wearing her pajama pants because lord knows what happened to his slacks. He's never had the, dare I say, luxury of a messy room that's solely yours to be free in. I imagine him growing up with such strict rules of cleanliness and punishment if not done so. So, the juxtaposition of him spending his time at Bernice's place is bizarre to him at first, but in this AU, as he grows to love her, it doesn't really matter to him.
I think after having to forcefully "let her go" (don't know if I want him to be forced to kill her or literally just let her go, but either way she and Derek get severely beaten by Mr. Goffard and his goons), the trauma of the incident is what leads him to be so obsessive of his possessions and why he hates mess even more because every mess reminds him of something he was never allowed to have. It's a distraction.
Anyway. That's pretty much this fanfic. Killing them. Hate them. Puts 'em in a blender and kills them again.
