Chapter Summary:
Story Summary: A multi-part fic about Ex!Soldier Katsuki Bakugo, who suffers from PTSD and hires a service hybrid, Kirishima, as a last resort. Later on, Kiri gets lonely, and a friend recommends that Katsuki get a hybrid for his hybrid. Then the boys find you, which brings back unpleasant memories for Katsuki, but after you and Kiri help him through it, life gets a little sweeter.
Author's notes: I don't know exactly where this story is headed, but it will get angsty. I will try to tag every post to the best of my ability. There will be plenty of fluff and crack to go along with this fic. I'm a whimsical fairy at heart. The banner is made by me, and the writing is 100% human; we don't do AI in this house. I'm still getting up to speed on how Tumblr works. I don't know how to make a master list, but if this fic gets enough traction, I will learn. Thank you for reading!

It was raining hard outside. The city was technically under a thunderstorm watch, but that never got in the way of justice. The army commissioner finally gathered enough evidence to do a raid on one of the biggest hybrid trafficking rings. It took them nearly 10 years to get the case they needed to bring before the court system. Such a shame, humans have always been the government's top priority. But none of that mattered now, what mattered was recovering the scumbags that worked here and throuing there ass's in jail. The plan was simple: Team Alpha would go in, neutralize all the threats at once, and, hopefully, bring everyone out in cuffs. Then, the teams Beta and Sigma would be in charge of getting the hybrids out and recovering all the evidence they could find.
After team Alpha successfully neutralized all the employees and recovered Boss Man himself, it was time for Katsuki's men to shine. With guns drawn, the men entered the building. The ground floor was swept first, and they found client lists, bank statements, and employee payrolls. After that, team beta and sigma split up. Katsuki went downstairs with Team Sigma while Team Beta went upstairs.
It didn't take long for Team Sigma to find all the undocumented hybrids. poorly hidden in the large underground base, there are hundreds of hybrids ranging from grizzly bears to koi fish. The cages were gross and littered with sick and fur. Empty water bowls littered the floor of every cage, and each cage held 4 to 6 hybrids. Some are pregnant or have small children. Taking a deep breath, Katsuki spoke into his earpiece, "I'm going to need all the SWAT trucks and medics to get to the extraction point asap." he gave his men the signal, and they got to work.
Most of the bigger male hybrids had to be tranquilized for the soldiers' safety. And the others had to be carried out. Being cooped up in cages for so long with multiple people made mobility impossible. Almost everyone was cleared out when Katsuki heard the noise. It was burned into the tissue of his brain. A blood-curdling sound at the very far corner of the warehouse. When he finally made it back there, that's when he saw those eyes. Big, round, beautiful eyes, with the saddest story to tell. His first time meeting you. A small female dog hybrid was strapped to some kind of chair that had her in a compromising position. In the other corner of the room, a large wolf hybrid was handcuffed to a medical bed. Katsuki called for backup and began to undo your bindings. You cried aggressively and started shaking violently. He noticed that your hair wasn't matted like the other hybrids they had recovered, and your muscles weren't visible under your skin. You had a pump frame, not a sickly one. This led him to the conclusion that you were well-loved at some point before entering this hellhole. Your skin was cold when he finally got you into his arms. He remembers how scared you were.
Katsuki's eyes open violently, breathing hard and drenched in sweat. The clock reads 5:00 am. The same dream every night, the same nightmare that haunts his sleep. He rubs the sleep from his eyes and starts to get out of bed. In his mind, he knows everything is fine now, but his subconscious won't let him rest. Katsuki goes about his morning routine, takes a piss, brushes his teeth, showers, and takes a protein shake. He leaves the house and makes his way over to the gym like he does every morning. After lifting weights with Kaminari and Mina, he leaves and heads to work.
A lot of ex-military personnel have trauma regarding guns, but he was lucky enough not to have different kinds of trauma. The gun range and training grounds hired him on the spot after his military retirement. After a year, he became a manager. Katsuki loved his job. he got to spend all day teaching people about guns and how to shoot them safely. A large percentage of their clients were young people looking to enter law enforcement. Katsuki always made sure to study them carefully and make sure they not only knew how to use a gun properly but also did not let the power go to their heads. He always made sure to scare off the bad ones with his military stories. After the first part of his shift, he would usually go to his parents for lunch, or on days he felt particularly nice, he would buy lunch for the whole office. His day ended at 4 pm, and he would head home.
On his way home, a call came through on his hands-free. It was the hybrid training facility, he answered. "This is Katsuki," Tank answered on the other line, "yes, hello sir, this is Tank, I'm calling to let you know the paperwork has been approved, the last thing we need from you before we make this official is a meeting with Kiri and you to see if he's comfortable in your presence after he says yes, we can proceed." katsuki clenches his jaw "okay im heading over now," " see you soon mr. Bakugo."
He pulls up to the facility, shaking in his boots. He's so nervous. Why is he so nervous? His head and heart are screaming at him to be calm. Katsuki's mind instantly thinks about those stupidly cute black floppy ears the redhead has, and his stupid little smile whenever he gets praise. What is wrong with him? This is a business deal, not a romance manga!
He pulls open the large doors one more time and steps into the building. Instead of Tank, greeting him, it's Kiri himself. His tail wags violently, and his meaty hands try to hide his stupid smile. His body is vibrating with pure joy, and he finally bursts. "It's a pleasure to meet you, dynamite sir! You are a legend among the hybrids here!" He extends a hand for Katsuki to shake. Katsuki grabs it and gives him the firmest handshake he can. "Dynamite, huh... haven't heard that nickmane in a long time. Everyone in the military has a nickname. Katsuki got his from his fiery personality, and he accidentally let a firecracker explode in his hand. His hand is fine; it just scared him, and the other guys thought it was funny.
After a bit more back and forth between the boys, they meet up with Tank and go into the dining hall. They grab their plates, sit down, and have a good connecting conversation about themselves. After the plates are clean and bellies full, the conversation takes an unexpected turn. "I meant what I said earlier, by the way, you are a hero to a lot of the hybrids in here," Kiri says while sipping on his water. He continues, "You helped save them from that illegal hybrid mill. Without your help, they would have never survived the conditions there." Katsuki tenses up. "I have nightmares about that place, you know, I've been through hell and back, but that raid got me discharged." He's sweating now, heart racing. Kiri can feel the shift in his body language, before his mind reacts, his body does. Kiri places his hand on Katsuki's shoulder and says in a soft tone, "We can get through this, together," and extends his other hand for a fist bump. Katsuki can feel his body calm, cracking a shy smile before accepting the fist bump.
"I look forward to you helping me, Kiri."
I've been on my feet all day, and my vape is low. Anyway, thank you for reading! Sorry, it's a slow burn. I wanna get the world building right.
