byler is genius simply bc it's so incredibly mutual but they chose to write it from the POV of the character who is mostly successful at concealing his feelings.

mike? he shows a steady flow of outward affection. near constantly putting his hand on will somehow, lip glances, changing his voice, heart eyes, asking if will is okay at any sign of discomfort, being protective, telling will that befriending him was the BEST THING HE'S EVER DONE, all these things that are so obviously indicative of love. but will? all i can think of is his lip glance in the movie theater, that he got emotional in the van, and steals glances when mike isnt looking. he really doesnt show many signs of being in love with mike, we just see it bc they show us his POV.

making us believe that MIKE is somehow the one who's crush (love, rather) is uncertain is juuuuust brilliant.
