“I’m fineeeee, I’m totally fine, I’m not at all tired!!” But there were bags under Chaewon’s eyes that nearly reached her chin, and her attempts to get out of her dad’s grasp were essentially just useless flailing. She’d been up all night studying for her exams -- two nights in a row. “I don’t need to sleeeeeep I need to do good on this exam, otherwise I’m so fuuuucked.....” The word fucked trailed off into a yawn that Chaewon wasn’t able to stifle.

And then, before she knew what was going on, Yixing crouched down in front of her and told her to get on his back. “Nooooo,” she whined, but at the same time did what he said and flopped onto his back, weakly and sleepily holding on.

Chaewon stayed true to her word and, after a few more moments of unpacking her suitcase, headed over to her dad’s place. She knocked on the door more times than was strictly necessary, playing a fun little rhythm, giggling to herself when she heard Gou barking from inside.

And it only took a few more moments before the door was opened and she greeted her dad with a big, sunshiney grin and gave him a big big hug before bending down to cuddle Gou.

Chaewon mindlessly scrolled through the many contacts from Mount Phoenix she’d saved on her phone. Now that she was back on the island, it was time to reconnect with everybody!

Her thumb stopped next to the name of that one kinda rude girl from the Halloween ball. Chaewon had had to use all of her charm in order to get her number, but here it was~

Quietly giggling to herself, Chaewon texted Eunbi a single word:

just a quick bit of info! chaewon was actually gone for a while after the halloween event because it was one of her brothers’ birthdays and since she’s gonna be on the island for christmas, she had to go back to south korea for his birthday at least (and stay a while)

With (a lot of) help from Valentina, Chaewon had made her costume and worked out just how she wanted her makeup to look. Her bathroom was a mess at this point, but that didn’t matter because she looked wonderfully spoopy~ combining a ghost-slash-zombie look with a pirate look was probably one of her best ideas of the last few years.

Chaewon didn’t have a date, which was fine and all, but she also didn’t want to go by herself. She’d heard that apparently her dad planned to go alone -- and that was about to change. Once she was satisfied with the way she looked, Chaewon bounced over to her dad’s place and rang the doorbell, a wide happy smile spreading on her lips when she heard Gou from inside.

“Hi, it’s me~” she called out in accented Chinese, then switched to Korean to add, “I’m coming to pick you up for the Halloween ball~”

There were many things that Chaewon expected to see around the city, now that she’d gotten used to it. She expected people using their powers and doing random cool stuff, and she expected the occasional spirit she had to take care of (or tell her dad about). And now that her cousin wasn’t on the island anymore, Chaewon spent a lot more time walking around by herself, still sometimes surprised at what she saw.

And today, the surprising thing was a guy parkouring. She saw the shape on a rooftop and couldn’t help but be intrigued. Chaewon did martial arts and gymnastics, she went running and swimming every now and then, but she’d never tried parkour. It had to be fun though, right? It was like a mix of the sports she liked to do (minus swimming, probably, unless she accidentally parkoured into a lake).

So when the mysterious figure paused to breathe, Chaewon shouted up at the roof as best as she could in her crunchy, quiet voice. “Hi! Excuse me, hi, can I join?”

Chaewon giggled when Jinseok flexed, though there was a light blush dusting her cheeks, because... well, he could probably bench press her very easily. Which she appreciated. But just because he looked good didn’t mean she’d go easy on him! Chaewon wasn’t really a gym-goer, but she was athletic, and she would do her best.

Even though she wouldn’t be able to beat him at weight-lifting or anything like that; she had stamina and she was fast. And could do backflips. And, like she had playfully threatened, break his beefy arms.

“In that case, I’ll be nice today~” Chaewon laughed and tied her long hair into a ponytail. “Where should we start? I haven’t been in an actual gym in....... ever.”

Chaewon wasn’t exactly turning into a party girl or anything, but she did enjoy going out with friends from uni and maybe getting a little dumb. She never really got super drunk or anything, just a little tipsy, because she had no idea what she was like when she was drunk! What if she ended up being super embarrassing?

She also didn’t mind being the designated driver, because that meant that everyone a) loved her and b) was being dumb while she was chilling and laughing and collecting good material for pranks. Or, in tonight’s case, staring at a very hot person at the club.

They had short hair and tattoo and looked strong enough to pick Chaewon up, and she was staring at them for far too long. One of her friends noticed and, after some denying and blushing and reluctant acceptance, pushed Chaewon in the general direction of the hot person.

After clearing her throat and checking her appearance in the reflection of her phone, Chaewon walked up to them with a smile. “Hi~” she said in her light, crunchy voice that was almost too quiet for the music. “My friend wants me to tell you that I think you’re attractive--”
