Village of the giants
Dinosaurs came into my life when I was very young (I wasn’t even able to read or write by then). I discovered them through a big old book that belonged to my father and the illustrations that I saw left me fascinated to this day and I never stopped being in love with these creatures. I cannot tell you how many times I imagined how cool it would be to see a real dinosaur, Jurassic Park style, but without the fatalities, of course.

GLASS ANIMALS • ****TUMBLR IRL
For their sophomore release, Glass Animals are pushing the conventions of album-making. It inspired us to do the same for Tumblr IRL.
Each track on How to Be a Human Being beautifully illustrates a fictional character, inspired by real people the band encountered on tour. Glass Animals have captured their personalities on Tumblr, and have enlisted longtime internet friends, Whoopi & Myk to reimagine their lives in many, but not too many, pixels.
For one night, the characters will come to life, backed by the unique sounds of Glass Animals. And with the help of these super creative minds, along with our friends at Ice Breakers mints, Vinyl Me Please and Spotify, Tumblr IRL is transcending new planes. Please join us.
Wednesday, August 31 The Village Studios 1616 Butler Ave Los Angeles, CA 8pm / Free / All Ages

Entry is limited to capacity, so get there early and stay in line.
If you can’t make it, don’t sweat. You are in for some treats.
Vinyl Me Please have captured the collaboration between Glass Animals and Whoopi & Myk in their limited edition September release, which you can order here.
Spotify Sessions will record this special Tumblr IRL, which will also get its own wax from Vinyl Me Please.
And, as always, you can go here for the music and art.
Tell your friends!
It’s out today. wow.
Its called How to be a Human Being and its about people. The idea came from a bunch of recordings I made of conversations. I found that while we were on tour strangers would open up and tell me things they probably wouldnt tell their closest friends. I started recording it all. amazing things, heartbreaking things, weird things, hilarious things. In november i sat down and listened to everything i had back to back. i started obsessing about the way people told stories. what people talk about, what they exaggerate, what they leave out, what the story actually means, and what all of that said about who they were as people. It all made me want to create my own characters and my own stories and hide a little bit of myself in each one. the guys and I talked about the idea and they were all down. each song a different character and a different story.
we started the record as soon as tour finished mid december last year. I went straight from the airport to the studio and locked the door for a week and a half. after ten to fifteen days of superintense work the demos were done. it was incredibly lucky to have a creative burst like that but I think having a strong idea of what the record had to say made it come out incredibly quickly. we then spent a couple months experimenting on those demos. in a few cases we ended up realising that the demo captured a spontaneity and an energy that we couldnt recreate in the studio. So a lot of what you hear on the record are those raw, rushed, spontaneous recordings from that first fortnight. and a lot is the result of us pulling a song apart and tinkering as a band. we’ve put our blood sweat and tears into it. sometimes quite literally. from the artwork to the videos to the live show, to the set design, to the production, and most importantly the words and music.
thank you to our amazing label, family, and friends…and huge thank you to all of you for making this all possible. without your support we never would have had the chance to make another record. its a dream.
Cant wait for you to hear it and I cant wait to play it all live for you.
big love, dave & dudes
