āDaisy Bushā by Annisquam artist Ann Guyer at her first solo exhibit, āBlossoms, Leaves and Berriesā at the Stetson Gallery. Before flowers, Guyer was working on black and white landscapes. āHonestly Iāve never tackled flowers,ā she said. āThis was an inspiration that happened in the middle of the summer in the middle of the yard.ā She enjoys traveling to coastal communities such as Marblehead, Cape Ann, Newburyport, Manchester and Provincetown. āIām very attracted to where the land meets the water and the sort of light that you get,ā she said. āEven if youāre not sitting on the beach, thereās a certain light in a coastal town.ā She carries pastels and paper in her car and has stopped to draw a clump of ragweed or poison ivy in the right light, returning to her studio to finish the sketch or reinterpret it. Other pieces show brown-eyed Susans, petunias and holly.
