10. Eric Clapton “Brownie” Stratocaster, or the “Layla” guitar. Sold for $450,000
9. Eric Clapton’s Gold Leaf Stratocaster built by Fender Custom Shop master builder Mark Kendrick, supposedly because Clapton wanted a guitar that he could “hang in a museum”. Sold for $455,000
8. Gibson SG used by both George Harrison and John Lennon, in use from 1966 to 1969, this guitar is featured on Revolver and the White album. Sold for $570,000
7. Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Lenny” Stratocaster (named after his wife who bought him the guitar for his birthday in 1980). After Stevie’s tragic and fatal accident, the guitar was donated for auction by Vaughan’s brother, Jimmy. The guitar was eventually sold to Guitar Center for $623,500
6. Eric Clapton’s 1939 CF Martin used in his MTV Unplugged performance. The guitar was auctioned off with proceeds going to his Crossroads Rehabilitation Center. Sold for $791,500
5. Eric Clapton’s 1964 Gibson ES-335 used during his time in the Yardbirds, Blind Faith, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, and Cream. Sold for $847,500

The guitar was signed by a number of legendary musicians, including Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Brian May, Ronnie Wood, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Pete Townshend, Sting, Angus Young, Richie Blackmore, Malcolm Young, members of Def Leppard, Liam Gallagher, Bryan Adams, and Paul McCartney. Sold for $2.7 million
