annamarsden:
He was right there. Anna hadn’t seen him since what felt like forever. The last moment they had together (or at least the one she remembered most vividly) had managed to mentally shake her up a bit. But now he was here, no chaos erupting around them, no monsters and demons separating them from one another. She took a few hesitant steps forward before knocking on the wall she was leaning against. “You like the yellow ones, too?” She asked, noting the way the boy tossed every other one into the trash. “That’s—good choice.” She added shyly, looking down.
In between a purple and a pink one he popped one of the hoarded yellow ones into his mouth. He rubbed his hands together and picked another little heart up and wondered what the '1 4 3' meant, his attention was drawn from the heart to the knocking and he just sort of nodded his response to Anna. He wanted to say sorry for the mess of a ball and losing her but his mouth didn't want to form those words. " Al-also la-like the white o-ones. Bu-but th-they don't ca-come in the ba-box any-anymore. " Was what he said instead giving her a little smile. " Wa-want sssome? " Jonathan asked. Anything to just keep her there, maybe the words that refused to work for him at the moment would fall into line soon enough.
