https://thepenmedia.com/2020/04/01/health-practitioner-calls-for-concerted-efforts-on-the-fight-against-covid-19/ HEALTH PRACTITIONER CALLS FOR CONCERTED EFFORTS ON THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 An environmental health scientist and president, Child Health Environment and Safety Trust, (CHEST), Prof. Godson Ana has urged Nigerians and residents of Oyo state to join hands with the federal and state governments in the fight against the spread of the dreaded corona virus. He stated this at a press conference held in Ibadan. Prof Ana, called on spirited individuals and corporate organisations to see how they could garner resources which would aid the containment of the global pandemic. He noted that part of the concerted efforts is to allay the palpable fears and tensions created on social media and other media platforms. He added that there is the need for provision of hand washing facilities in public places as well as the decontamination of public places like banks, religious centres and markets with the provision of protective equipment in the neighbourhood which would enhance some levels of monitoring at at residential areas with proper surveillance to know who is visiting such area. He, commended the measures put in place so far by the state government in containing the deadly viral disease. He however, said, as others have done globally, that this is a war that must be fought by all and on all fronts if we are to come through with minimal damages and scars. COVID-19 has shown itself as not only a health emergency but also an economic emergency. Our key tool remains prevention. This is on account of the sheer size of our population, our resources and the challenges currently being faced by our health system. Now that we have reached the stage of community transmission, a lot needs to be done in the form of health promotion, health protection and prevention in order to reduce the quantum of patients needing hospital care. Prof Godson however, asserted that his foundation would mount hands washing points in strategic streets and junctions, with the provisions of hand sanitizers as part of palliative measures to support government https://www.instagram.com/p/B-bzleejgqG/?igshid=1knfy1eaxdhob
