Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their work. Final decisions and notices will be sent out mid July. - Mr. Roach mag team
We're down to our last month for submissions! Send in your poetry, short stories, essays, art, dirty pictures, dinosaur erotica...etc.!
Mr. Roach is waiting for you.
Hi there! I am interested in submitting two different pieces--one poem and one piece of postcard prose. I know that you would like them to be sent in as separate documents, but would you also like them to be sent in as separate submissions (ie: one attachment per email) or would you like both pieces at once?
Hello! Yes, both pieces at once would be fine.
People in the IE should come check out:
FOREVER YOUNG:
An art show focusing on the artist’s inner childhood dreams, fantasies, fears, and more. The Saturation Fest team put together this theme to remind us all that it’s OK to dream big, be creative and young at heart. May 22 - June 27, 2014 21+ / Free @ Pixels Bar & Art Gallery 3535 University Ave. Riverside, CA
Hello, hello, hello! For submitting prose, is there a minimum word count? Mine's around a thousand words, and I'm hoping it's long enough. Also! is it alright to submit prose in an .rtf file?
Hello there! Yes, .rtf is fine. We’re OK with most document formats as long as we can open it. There is no word minimum, so you’re good to go.

In regards to novel excerpts, what do you classify as "standing on their own"?
Just that the excerpt is comprehensible without a lot of backstory. The first chapter is usually best for this or a particularly vivid scene.
Mr. Roach is a magazine for art and literature.

Hi! I'm interested in submitting some of my work and a few questions came to mind. 1) Do you accept novel excerpts if they can stand on their own? 2) What specific author information (address, contact info, etc.) should I include?
Hello! We are definitely open to excerpts. Give us some context of the story in the submission email. As for author information, all we need initially is your name. You can include a couple of lines about yourself and the piece you’re submitting, if you’d like.

We want your restless, dangerous women; ghost stories; bad guys; doomed love affairs; deep-seated childhood issues; and uncertain fates.
Mr. Roach will be released in Fall 2014. All writers/artists selected for publication will receive a print copy of the magazine.
Damn, Mr Roach. You sound so… noir.
You let me know to send in my piece to see if it could be used, and I had another question as well. What do the "non exclusive rights" specifically mean? Would you be able to explain further why the rights would be non exclusive?
Hi. Thanks for your interest in the magazine. Essentially, we’re only asking for first print rights. After that, the work is yours entirely and you can reprint the same piece wherever you’d like.
For someone submitting poetry, do you want each poem on a different page in a single document, or would you prefer that they be on the same page, separated by their titles?
We'd prefer them to be in separate documents.
hi, can you submit a combination of poetry/prose/art? if so what are the limits?
Yes, submitting to multiple categories is fine. Send it in! You can find our submission guidelines here: http://mrroachmagazine.com/submityourwork. Same rules apply.
Would stories be considered under prose? Because I have a story that is 568 words over the limit? Could I still submit it?
Send it in! Our prose limit is 5,000 words, but we are flexible if the work is good.
I plan on eventually publishing my short story. Can I still do that if I submit it to your magazine?
Rights revert back to you after publication. So yes you can.
