it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen
The eye doctor is the most fun doctor you can go to. They never steal your blood. They never make you get naked and put on a paper dress. They're just like, "Can you see these letters? It's fine if you can't, we can fix that." And they don't even spell anything.

Jokes aside, this recall was issued for WA/OR/ID and the affected brands are Royale Natural and TOP VALU. More info in linked article.
As much as i love first man Julian Bashir, Garak was not winning that election without Doctor Kelas Parmak. The family dynamic, in my mind, is v "ah yes the Castellan Elim Garak, his husband: the first man doctor kelas parmak, and their live-in, burnout federation (Fuck)pet Doctor Julian Bashir." Obviously they never confirm on paper that theyre a throuple or anything but the tabloĆÆds get in a Frenzy every time they go out on a date and they regularly get called predators by space homophobes on space twitter for their twenty-years-their-junior unicorn

My favorite scenes in the LotR books are the ones where Legolas has vital information and just decides it's not important to share.
Like when Gandalf spent literal PAGES trying to figure out why the vibes were off in Moria and Legolas chimes in with just "it's a balrog :) that shit's evil :) we're so fucked :)" like what do you MEAN you knew already and just didn't tell him??
Or at the beginning of Two Towers when Aragorn thinks there's something nearby so he puts his ear to the ground to listen, and then like 10 minutes later is like "hmmm i hear horses" and Legolas is just like "mm yep. there are 105 blond bitches with spears" like you just let your friend put his face in the dirt and you can SEE them??
Legolas please gain a sense of urgency
It's because legolas hasn't spent enough time with non-elves to remember that they don't know what he knows.
gandalf is scratching his head in moria, and legolas is thinking "oh man, the wizard noticed something off *besides* the obvious balrog that we all are aware of??"
"I wonder what aragorn is listening for? must be hard to hear, what with all of the horses. How many horses are there, actually? 1... 2... 3..."
"What do your elvish eyes see?" is Aragorn saying, as politely as possible, "Because the REST OF US are at a significant disadvantage, Prince Dipshit."
I remember months ago seeing the Idea of Garak and Bashir exchanging last names if they married, as to deliberately make everyone elses life harder. Now I cant help but thinking about it
Garak taking Bashir's last name: v fun idea, casting off the violent role he's had to play his entire life to dedicate himself to a name only associated with healing, the comfort of finally being claimed and a part of a family after a lifetime of shame around being an unclaimed bastard
Bashir taking Garak's last name: v fun idea about casting off the baggage of existing as a patrilineal legacy, allowing a legacy of healing to usurp the shame of violence
Bashir and Garak both taking Parmak's last name: these are His men now. His problems. Alas.
I've always written everything by hand before typing. Staring at a blank word document doesn't inspire the words to come.
But a blank paper and a blue pen and the words come at a steady pace.
As traditional handwriting is progressively being replaced by digital devices, it is essential to investigate the implications for the human
aaaand here's a link to the paper :)
Y'all should really read the commentary article on this paper. The results reported by this article are way overstated and there are some real issues with how it was tested. Most damning, I find, is that participants when typing were only allowed to type with one finger and without seeing what they were typing on a screen. I don't understand how that's in any way close to how you'd type irl
