@mrs-pattie-thinks-things
I may be the only person who knows this song and thus the only person who lost it at this line delivery.
I still crack up every time I think about it.
I’ve been sent this song before, perhaps because I have a very exacting and literal way of speaking and drink lots of Pepsi max, so when Tuvok stopped for a second, thought, “what culture known to renaissance Europe would align with Vulcan behaviour?” and without missing a beat, says, “Scandinavia” it became, to me, the most unintentionally hilarious line to me.
Every time I see Mamdani I hear Samuel L Jackson asking “do you know how to play the game?” because yeah, I think he does.
The year is 1611.
Your name is Lucifer. It stands out as exotic; everyone knows you’re Italian, but it’s fine. You hear there’s a new tragedy that’s come out recently that’s making Italian names seem sexy.
Your friends keep whispering and ask you if you’ve read the knew Bible translation.
You read it.
It is no longer cool to be called Lucifer.
The year is 1939.
Your name is Adolf. A robust popular name meaning powerful wolf, and during this depression, strength is trendy.
Germany invades Poland.
Adolf is no longer trendy.
The year is 2014.
Your name is Isis. A strong, feminist name, borne from the Egyptian goddess of healing. Your powerful name turns heads.
Iraq is invaded.
Your name now turns heads for all the wrong reasons.
It’s embarrassing being me, but I’d rather be me than try to be anyone else
Finding out most of my long term friends are zionists is deeply upsetting.
The genocide, I am ashamed to say, isn’t the unsettling part. It is deeply upsetting. It is tragic. But what rattles me deeply me is opening up social media and seeing friends share cutie interviews and clean, “rational” videos trying to convince us that it’s actually ok and we are not to blame.
The fact that these are the people I grew up with makes me ill. How can you think this is ok.
Damn I have a lot of feelings.
Doors: the enemy of D&D parties and people with ADHD
ADHD can make you forget what you’ve already done just as it can make you forget what you need to do
When you see the patterns, it’s hard to un-see them
PS: I am a fan of all three, though Octavia Butler isn’t someone I obsess over as much because it’s a little too heavy, and a little too close to reality to think about without getting too upset. Also, to clarify, this is a joke and I do not drink to relieve anxiety.
Just made this comic based off my experience of learning costumes through TAFE and getting a Bachelor of Illustration. It feels very silly at the time to do exams and write essays about the topic of illustration, but I find myself being able to find the words easily when talking about things symbolism, colour theory and narrative. However, learning costume construction based almost purely on practical application, I find myself stumbling over my words and saying things like “ok you put the thing-in-the-thing and then you kind of vibe it to the end”. University really makes me aware of your gaps in skill, but on the plus side, it gave me the tools to communicate those gaps and the ability to learn them in the future.
I often find myself thinking about this game and to talk about it in a room full of nerds who have no idea what I’m talking about.
I was drawing while listening to Tale Foundry and their video on The Simulation Narrative and it casually drops a summary of I Saw the TV Glow.
The summary wrecked me. I have never felt so validated and so destroyed all in one moment. I’m not even trans, but I spent most of my life feeling like I was acting out someone else’s version of who I am and I felt like I was dying. And the whole, to return to your true self you have to bury this version of you felt so validating.
Because it’s terrifying and it feels like actually dying. Like you have to suffocate yourself to finally breathe.
It hit me so hard I had to try to draw how it made me feel.
I am a massive wimp so I will probably not watch it for a long time but oh my gosh, it’s already been a punch in the gut and I haven’t even seen it.
Dear developers - the fact that you can beat the game using patience is not a flaw, it’s a feature. Please never change this.
Thanks to my lecturer who took us on digital en plein air excursions during lockdown. This now a fun activity for me. This one took me about an hour and a half.
But Amy, couldn’t you just pause the game? No Felicia*. Knowing I could be attacked by a robot dinosaur at any moment and that the clouds and shadows movie is part of the fun.
The rules are: the picture is done when the machine has died or I do.
(*Felicia did not actually ask me this)
Fun fact: I made this while getting very distracted
New books out. Gonna makes some tumblr edits

Me, in the shower after therapy: I deserve to die a slow, painful death.
[pauses briefly]
No, I feel embarrassed for something that happened about 15 years ago, which was based off an age-appropriate misunderstanding.
