Another new book?! OUR OWN LITTLE UNDERWORLD has found a home with Orange Blossom Publishing!
Another new book?! OUR OWN LITTLE UNDERWORLD has found a home with Orange Blossom Publishing!
“I’m going to order a fancy sushi box when I get an offer for this book,” I said to my husband Matt after yet another rejection. I had been querying my Hades and Persephone retelling OUR OWN LITTLE UNDERWORLD for a few months–honestly not that long in the query trenches, but after a few ‘we would love to see more from you, but this isn’t the right fit for us at this time.’ emails, I wanted to…

10 Things You Might Not Know About Me.
10 Things You Might Not Know About Me.
My middle name is essentially a typo and my parents just decided to roll with it. 2. I met my husband by sitting on his guitar case at an over-crowded indie coffee shop. He came over to ask me to move, and we have been together for over 10 years. I published our “Meet Cute” in the anthology How I Met My Other with Orange Blossom Publishing. 3. I was an extra in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! It’s…

Creative Writing on Erstwilder TV
Creative Writing on Erstwilder TV
Hi Everyone,
I’m so excited to announce that my video with Erstwilder TV went live today! Click here to check it out, and join me for a little creative writing.
As promised, here’s what I wrote during the sprint (plus a few extra paragraphs because I was feeling inspired) I don’t typically dabble in fantasy with my own writing, so this was a fun departure for me. I have some serious D&D and…

Drawing again? Meet two of my new characters!
Drawing again? Meet two of my new characters!
Hey Y’all,
Currently both of my manuscripts “Dear Galaxy” and “Our own little underworld” are in the hands of my editors. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in between projects, while I wait to get my edits back, I’ve been working on some short stories, getting a little creative R&R, making Pinterest boards, and revisiting an old hobby. Last week I started drawing again.
I haven’t really drawn…

Staying in & Dressing Up
Hey Ya’ll,
It’s been a quiet couple months at home. I’ve been resting, writing, trying to stay calm, and find a decent gluten free bread recipe to bake (and of course, playing a ton of Animal Crossing). This past weekend was “Dapper Day at Home” Matt and I had a fun time dressing up, taking some photos, and doing a GIANT zoom call at night with our friends. You can see more photos on Instagram,…

Virtual Read-A-Long on Writer’s Atelier!
Hi Ya’ll
As a lot of you may know Writer’s Atelier is my home away from home, here in Orlando FL. While the studio is closed in compliance with CDC guidelines, they’re bringing their workshops and events online! I was delighted to read Chapter 1 of my first novel “Confidence: The Diary of an Invisible Girl” live on their facebook page last Thursday!
If you missed the live video, you can watch it…

Diner Love <3
Diner Love
This probably doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, but I love vintage diners.
like a lotttt. My current work-in-progress manuscript is a 1950s inspired space-age romance. (with a lot of diners- think Happy Days in space lolol )
So, when Matt and I went to Pensacola a few weeks ago, it was one of the first things I searched for on google maps. That’s how we discovered the Scenic 90s Cafe just…

A Girl Called Monster – Fan Casting!
It’s October!
The spooky spirit is in the air, and I’m dreaming about witches, vampires, and monsters.
Well, one monster in particular…
A GIRL CALLED MONSTER
Author Fan Casting.
I think about Monnie often. It’s like that with all of my fictional characters. You live with them in their head for so long, that they don’t just go away. I’ll hear a song and think,
“Monnie would…

From Red to Blonde
From Red to Blonde
Hey everyone!
I never know how people are going to react when I dye my hair. I’ve heard “I liked _insert hairstyle here_ better” from acquaintances more times than I can count. I brace myself for reactions while trying not to may them too much mind. Hair grows back. For me it’s been a low-risk way to change, experiment, and feel a bit refreshed.
I’ve had some version of red hair for a few years…

Five Things to do When You Don't Feel like Writing!
Five Things to do When You Don’t Feel like Writing!
Hey Everyone!
Today I thought I’d talk a little about motivation. All writing has its ups and downs, it can be hard to keep ourselves in a positive headspace to push our writing forward. We love our stories, and then we second guess them…then we love them again, and the cycle continues. But when we stick with our stories, we can end up with creating things that we never thought were possible. I…

Hey Everyone,
I’m trying to get better at this whole author-blog thing. I was brainstorming ideas, and I started to wonder, how much do you know about me? What sort of fun facts could I tell you that you might not know? I’ve recently chatted with you all a lot about writing and book releases! But today let’s throw a few random facts in the mix!
I was a hat maker for several years.
2. I had a mohawk when I was 19. This shocks EVERYONE!
3. I used to play the bass. My strings where steel, and I had to ice my hands after every band-practice. 😦 I haven’t played in years, but I’d really like to learn the ukelele!
4. I love to sing. One of the reasons I love Christmas time is just for the old carols. I feel like my voice is suited for those holiday melodies. I would love to go caroling with a group one year, but I also have a terrible fear of singing in public. I hate karaoke.
5. My face is tattooed on someone’s arm … kinda. Technically it’s me wearing a mask. One of the weirder stories from working HHN ❤ More about that in this video,
6. Speaking of tattoos, I don’t have any! I’ve thought about getting one people, but I don’t think I’ll ever like an idea enough.
7. When I was a middle schooler and obsessed with LOTR I used to pinch the tips of my ears together for minutes at a time trying to make them pointy… I really really wanted to be an elf… and you know, marry Legolas… NBD (not to anyone’s surprise I wrote a lotttt of fanfic about this.)
8. Dragon Age is my favorite video game series… and yes, if given the choice I normally play as an elf. ;p
9. I don’t eat red meat. It’s both a diet and a personal choice. After several times getting food poisoning it wasn’t a hard decision to make. I’ve never really been a big meat eater, so It’s not something I really miss.
10. I’m an introvert. I like going out and seeing friends, but most of the time a nice night sounds like snuggling up and watching anime, reading, or playing Stardew Valley with snacks ❤
Those are my random facts! Which ones surprised you the most? Let me know in the comments below, or send me a tweet at @MrsPaigeLavoie and feel free to let me know a random fact about yourself too!

4 songs I listened to while writing "A Girl Called Monster"
4 songs I listened to while writing “A Girl Called Monster”
Hey Everyone, Music is powerful, it can make us cry. It can make us smile. It motivates us to have a cleaning dance party and vacuum the entire house. and best of all it can help us get in the mood to write. I listened to a lot of random music while writing my latest YA novel “A Girl Called Monster” it’s a modern-day Frankenstein story, but at its core, it’s a Coming of Age story. That being…
