Costume Time!

"Mommy mommy!" Charlotte felt her nearly three year old daughter wrap her arms around her legs and she smiled. "I see you're up from your nap." she grinned before bending over to pick her up. Bella was heavy but she wasn't going to let her know that. She hugged her close and she smiled at her. "Guess what we're going to do today princess?" She smiled when Bella gave her a look. "We are going to get your Halloween costume princess." Bella grinned. "Now mama?" she asked. Charlotte nodded. "After we get you ready to go." Bella squirmed to get down. Charlotte put her down and she watched her run off. "Come on Mommy!" She followed her to her room. She found a cute Halloween outfit that she was definitely sure Delilah bought for her. She put it on her and topped it off with the cutest little bow on her head.

"Mommy I'm ready!" She exclaimed. She looked at her daughter and she laughed. "You need your shoes on baby girl." she replied. She handed Bella the shoes and she helped her put them on. "Now we can go." It didn't take them too long to get out of the door but that was because they were doing something that Bella was excited to do. When she wanted they could get out of the house fairly quickly. She laughed watching her run. "Hold on baby girl." she called out. It didn't take them too long to get to a costume shop that she'd seen not that long ago. "Let's go in here." She smiled and led Bella in. They walked around and she'd show Bella costumes. She wanted something specific and she knew what Bella would want so she'd use that to her advantage as they looked around the cute little shop.

Once she found something she knew Bella would want she grinned. She held that off to the side while she looked for something else in particular. When she found something cute she held it down to her. "Look sweet girl. You and Mommy could dress alike." She watched Bella shake her head. "I Elsa Mommy." she stated. Charlotte laughed. "I know baby girl. But Mommy wants you to wear this with her for a while too okay?" she asked. She held up the Mommy and me costumes she'd found and she held up the Elsa. "Okay Mommy." She smiled and within minutes they'd paid for their costumes. When they'd gotten home they tried them on and took their pictures and she even got a few of Bella in her Elsa costume too. She was happy with her costume. She was happy with Bella's costumes.

One Special Halloween.

Charlotte woke with a start. Looking at the clock she saw it was nearly three in the morning. She was just about to turn over and go back to sleep when she felt a wetness beneath her. Sitting up she nearly screams in pain. That's when it hit's her. "Holy shit." she slowly gets up and goes to change clothes. Once she was done she grabbed the hospital bag and her phone and she headed out of her room. "DAD!" she called. She continued down the stairs. "DADDY!" she called up as she headed down. Once she reached the bottom of the stairs she had to hold onto them as another contraction hit. Once it passed she put the bag by the door and she sat down. She couldn't handle another one standing at that moment. "Kid what's---" She could tell that her dad saw her by the way he stopped talking. "Is it time?" She nodded slowly.

She could hear and feel the panic in just his voice. "Come on. Let's go." Before she could even move to stand up she had another contraction. Once it had passed she hadn't even realized that her dad had her bags out to the car and was coming back for her. "Come on kid. It's time to go." She let him help her to the car and she let him help her in and no sooner than she got into the car did she have yet another contraction. It didn't take them long at all to get to the hospital. She wasn't sure if it was the time of night or the fact that her father was breaking every single road law she knew. Either way the trip didn't take long and when they got there he wouldn't let her get out of the car until he had a wheelchair there. While she didn't blame him she wanted to walk in. She bit down on her lower lip as she slowly got out of the car.

"Dad hand me my phone." She knew he could come back for everything else but she wanted her phone with her. He wheeled her in and before anyone could say anything a nurse popped up. "Can we help--" Before she could finish Charlotte had another contraction. "Damn it.." she muttered under her breath. The nurse walked away and she came back with forms to sign. "THAT CAN WAIT GET MY DAUGHTER SOME HELP!" Even Charlie was a little shocked by his tone but she could understand it. With him there it didn't take them long at all to get her into a room and checked. "When did your water break?" a nurse asked. "When I woke up around an hour ago or a little longer." she admitted. She was expecting to spend the whole day and even the coming night in labor. She wasn't looking forward to it but she was happy to know that it wouldn't be too much longer (hopefully) before she got to meet her baby.

The contractions had picked up and when she was finally asked if she wanted an epidural she clearly said yes. After she got it finally she was able to relax a little. She got the epidural around 8am. She was able to nap off and on for the rest of the day. Thankfully her dad was there all day with her. She'd texted Delilah to let her know what was going on. She knew her sister wouldn't make it in before the baby was born but she also knew that Delilah would be coming out to see her as soon as possible. After a long day around nearly seven pm it was time to push. She pushed and she pushed and at 7:02pm Isabella Eloise Scott was born. She weighed 5 lbs and 3 oz. She was 19 inches long and in the eyes of Charlotte she was perfect. "Welcome to the world little princess." she smiled when she was handed to her for the first time. "Happy Halloween baby girl." she kissed her head.

A false arrest.

Charlotte's world was upside down. Bella was missing and they had no leads. She'd answered everyone's questions. She had been nothing but forthcoming. She wanted her little girl found alive and happy. She knew the longer it took the more time. She'd become so familiar with the park bench that she was sitting on one may think she was attached to it. She wanted to be looking for her daughter but she also wanted to be there to answer any questions the police needed to answer. She'd answered the same questions worded differently until she couldn't take it anymore. "I can't do this anymore." she wasn't even given an answer just a few more snaps and a take a break. She sat back and she closed her eyes. This can't be happening. She wiped her hands along her face and she sighed. She wanted to know where her baby girl was. She needed to find her daughter.

Finally she gave up. She couldn't just sit on the bench. She didn't want to disturb the crime scene but she needed to see where she'd last seen her daughter playing. She didn't touch anything. She didn't even try to go into where the tape had covered. She made her way back to the bench and she tried to recall anyone that could have taken her. She couldn't think of anyone that she'd have seen. Just as she sat down her phone went off and it was a text from a friend. She didn't care. She wasn't worried about her friends or even her family. She put the phone on silent and put it in her pocket. She sat back and looked around. She could tell that the cops were asking around and trying to find what happened to her daughter. "Miss Scott?" She looked up. "My name is Officer Palmetto. I'm going to ask you a few questions okay?" She looked up at the female police officer and she bit down on her lower lip lightly before nodding slowly.

"Before you go into questioning I just want you to know this. I was watching her play. The very last thing I watched was her go down the slide laughing and come around to walk back up the steps to either go down again or play around on the playground equipment. She was wearing a dress with shorts underneath. A pair of her favorite shoes and she had a bow in her hair." She looked at the female officer. "Did I answer everything?" she asked. "Not exactly. Why did you look away?" the officer asked. "My phone went off. I wasn't even going to answer it. Just stop it because it was loud." she admitted. She could tell the officer was taking notes. "I've been over this a thousand times. I just want to find my little girl.." she wiped the tears from her eyes. "I'll be right back." the police officer walked away. She tried to think about anything she may have missed at all. Did she miss anything?

A few moments later the officer came back with another officer. "Miss Scott? Could you stand up please?" She looked at the officer and did as she was asked. "Charlotte Scott you are under arrest for the disappearance of your daughter Isabella Scott." As she was read her rights she was very confused. She didn't know what to do or say about this so she waited till they had her cuffed and in the police car. She looked at Officer Palmetto and she gave her a look. "Why did you arrest me exactly?" she asked. "We have reason to believe you know where she is or who did it." the officer answered. It didn't take long to get to the station and get processed. "Can I please have my call now?" she asked. Since they'd taken her cell she had to try to remember her father's number by memory. She dialed what she thought was his but when an unfamiliar female answered she was confused. "Hello. Is Gabriel James available?" she asked curiously.

One day he was just gone.

"Delilah. Charlotte. Come here." Both girls were in the room they'd shared ever since Charlotte was a baby. Upon hearing their mother's voice Delilah grabbed Charlotte's hand. "Come on. Let's go." Charlie got up and followed behind her sister. They came down the stairs and over to the living room where their mother was sitting. Looking around Charlotte was a little confused. She knew her dad should be there. In fact they had a ritual when he first came in and the fact that he wasn't there threw her off. He wasn't there to greet her. She looked up at her sister before she looked at their mother. Something was clearly going on. The girls were told to sit down and when the climbed up onto the couch to see what was going on. Maybe their father was home and he was waiting to surprise them? Judging by the way her mother looked it wasn't any kind of surprise though.

"What is it mom?" She looked at her sister as she spoke. She then turned her attention back to their mother. When Nancy cleared her throat for some reason both girls sat up straighter. "Listen girls." She began and the girls shared a look nervously. "I have something to tell you." Charlotte noticed the unused tissue in her mother's hand and she was even more confused. Something was clearly up and just the way things looked it wasn't good. "Where's daddy?" Charlie piped up. She thought about the last thing she'd said to him. "Daddy I love you. You get bedtime stories right?" She was counting on those stories. She loved when he told her stories. Some of them she was sure he made up but she hadn't yet admitted those were her favorites. She liked the spins he'd put on them just to make her laugh. "CHARLOTTE!" She was quickly brought out of her thoughts. "Yes Mommy?" she asked ever so quietly. "Listen to me."

She sat up even straighter even though she didn't think that was possible. Her attention was now focused on the mother before her. She wanted to know where he was or what was going on. She had to admit to herself that she had an uneasy feeling but she wasn't sure why. "Girls.." She watched her mother pretend to use the tissue. "Daddy's not coming home." Charlotte's brain started working. She wasn't sure what that meant but she was kind of scared. "Where's daddy?" she asked at the same time Delilah sank in her seat. "Why isn't he coming back? He forgot me?" she kept going. "Charlotte. Stop." She bit down on her lower lip fighting off tears as she stared up at her mother. "He didn't for-" she paused. "Okay so he forgot you. It's okay though. Mommy's here for you." Without waiting for her to continue she stood up. "HE WOULD NEVER FORGET ME!" She ran upstairs to the room she shared with her sister.

She fell onto her bed in a fit of tears and she hugged the wolf he'd gotten her. It had been her favorite thing other than the doll he'd just gotten her for her birthday but the doll was tucked away in her doll bed. She slept with the wolf. At first she'd been jealous of the giraffe her sister had gotten but she loved the wolf with his blue eyes and just how soft he was. She held him against her as she cried. A few moments later she could hear footsteps and she heard her mother's voice. "Charlotte stop that right now. Sit up." Charlie sat up and stared at her mother who was sitting on Delilah's bed with her. "You can each say goodbye to your father in your own way if you'd like." Before she'd even got a breath out Delilah spoke. "When is his funeral or is he just missing?" she asked. "He's gone. And we aren't having a funeral for him." That made Charlie cry even more. "We have to say bye!" she made sure her feelings were known.

"That's enough Charlotte. There will be no funeral. That is final. Now since I'm sure you girls are tired get ready for bed. You've had a long day." Charlie looked at her sister. Without a word she curled up on top of the sheets and the comforter on her bed and she hugged her wolf as tightly as she could. She didn't know how she'd go to sleep knowing she'd never see her father again. Finally she sat up and looked over at Delilah. "Lilah? Are you awake?" she asked. She could hear Delilah turn over and she could feel her eyes scanning for her. Without a word Charlotte got up and went to get in her sister's bed. "What do you think happened to daddy?" she asked. She could feel her sister hug her and shrug. "I don't know. But Mom says he's gone forever." She held Charlie close while she cried. Charlotte could tell that Delilah was crying too but not as hard. As she started to drift to sleep finally she sighed. "I miss you so much daddy." she whispered as her eyes closed and she drifted off to sleep.

If things had been different..

"Charlotte? What's wrong?" She looked up at her mother and she scowled. Nancy knew she hated being called Charlotte. She preferred Charlie. She didn't know how to answer her mother. "You don't seem yourself." The truth was she hadn't seemed herself since she was eight and here she was fifteen. That's a long time to not be yourself isn't it? She shook the thoughts from her head and just as she was about to speak her seventeen year old sister did. "Maybe she's just tired. If you stop harassing her then maybe she'd be back to herself." She saw Delilah shoot her a small smile which she returned. "That doesn't make any sense. Charlotte are you---" She never got to finish her sentence because Charlie got up from the dining room table and she ran to the nearest bathroom. Before she really realized what had happened she was throwing up. A few moments of being in the bathroom and she heard a knock.

"Just a minute!" She managed to get out. "It's me Char.." She heard her sister's voice and she cleaned herself up. She wasn't sure if her mother was there too and if she was she didn't want to give her anymore questions. She opened the door and she looked at her older sister. "I don't feel well. Can I sleep in your room?" She heard her mother come up. "That won't be necessary. You have your own room and your own bed." Before her mother could continue Delilah helped her get upstairs and she took her straight to her room. "Thank you." Charlie smiled lightly as she was put into the smaller bed mostly used for when Delilah had company or for times like this. "I got you." Was the last thing she remembered Delilah saying before she slowly drifted off to sleep not knowing exactly what was wrong with her. She hoped to find out the following day.

Waking up the following day she was back in her own room. She was confused as hell but she didn't have time to make sense of it. Before she could fully wake up she felt sick. She got up and made her way to the bathroom between her room and Delilah's and within moments she was getting sick. Luckily she'd shut and locked the door just before she fell to her knees in front of the toilet. At least she'd made it. That was something she'd cared for. The last thing she needed was to have to clean up a mess before school. Once she was sure she was done she started the shower and within a few moments she was standing underneath the water. She stood there for what felt like hours but in no time she could hear Delilah banging on the door. She scowled under the water but she finished up and shut the water off.

A few moments later she was wrapped in one towel with another around her head. Quickly she made her way out of the bathroom. "It's all yours." She headed back to her room and she got dressed as quickly as possible. Just as she was finishing with her boots he came in without even knocking. "You're dressed already?" he asked. Arching a brow she didn't even look up. "I have school." She moved to stand and he caught her arm. "No you don't. Your mom is gone to work and your sister can drive alone." She pulled her arm free and without looking at him she sighed. "I have two tests today and an exam to study for. I have to go." She grabbed her bag and she headed for Delilah's room almost knocking her over as she came out. "I was just about to come get you." Delilah looked up at their stepdad before looking at Charlie. "Are you ready?" Charlie nodded.

"I can take her to school." he answered. Charlotte grabbed Delilah's hand and she pulled her sister down the stairs. "That won't be necessary." She called back. The two of them went out and got into the car they shared. "Don't even worry about your seat belt. Let's go." Once they were away from the house she sighed. "Can you go into the drugstore for me? It's for class but I don't want mom thinking it's for something else but I need a pregnancy test." Delilah gave her a dirty look but she pulled into the parking lot and walked in. When she finally came out she had two different kinds. "You never specified so I got two kinds." she sighed. "Thank you." She took the tests and put them in her bag. "Coffee?" she asked. She knew she wouldn't have to ask her sister twice. Once they got there she didn't want one. She wasn't in the mood for one even though that was unusual.

Once at school she saw a few friends on her way to the bathroom. Once inside she locked herself into a stall where she took both tests. She waited the three minutes and she nearly fell over. They both came back positive. "Fucking hell..." She put them in her bag in a bag and she walked out of the bathroom like nothing happened. She went about her day like nothing happened and she asked her sister for some money. She would pay her back but it was enough to get a one way bus ticket to New York and some snacks for the trip. She knew that it wouldn't take long for her mother to figure out she was pregnant so she bought the ticket for the Friday evening. She'd get to spend a few more days with her sister and she'd have enough time to figure out what she wanted to take with her. She just wanted to tie up a few loose ends.

When Friday afternoon came Delilah wanted to break free to go with her friends Charlotte said no. Charlotte begged and convinced Delilah to stay. She told their mother they were going to dinner and a movie. A sister bonding experience. And then Charlotte was being dropped off at a friends. It took a little convincing but the girls were teenagers so eventually Nancy told them to have fun. Charlotte put her stuff in the trunk of the car that morning after their mom and stepdad had gone to work. She'd even saved her sister's phone number in a burner phone and put the info in Delilah's phone when she wasn't paying attention. She labeled herself as homework buddy #3. Once they left they did go get food but that's when she sprang it on her. "Hey Delilah. I have something major to tell you." She bit down on her lower lip while they sat in the car after eating.

"I'm going to New York. Tonight. I found our dad. He's alive and well and as far as he knew we didn't want him in our lives." She paused. "And I have to go. I can't wait." She bit down on her lower lip. "Why can't you wait?" She looked at Delilah. "Your niece or nephew." she admitted. Delilah arched a brow. "Look. I don't have a boyfriend or anything. The baby's father is someone you know." she added. "Who the hell is it?" She could tell Delilah thought it may be one of her friends. "It's not one of your friends if that's what you're thinking." She bit down on her lower lip. "He lives with us." It didn't take Delilah but a few moments before she was hugging her sister. "Don't tell them you know. Just. When they ask why I'm not coming home tomorrow say you don't know. I'll be in touch. Just say you dropped me off at Sami's house. I'll be fine." They hugged again.

They made it to the bus station and Delilah gave Charlotte some spending money. "Let me know when you make it. I love you." They hugged and Charlotte boarded her bus. She found a seat with her bags and she sat comfortably. Another thing Delilah got her on the way was a neck pillow. As the bus pulled away she waved to her sister and she put ear buds in with music. She left her old phone behind. She had the contacts she wanted in the burner. She also managed to get her sister's old iPod and she downloaded a ton of music and some games to play offline. While they were out she bought two chargers and she had two already so hopefully she'd be able to stay charged with the iPod and the burner phone. She managed to text her sister a good bit while on the way to New York and she found out that her mom and step dad were going crazy looking for her and Delilah was pretending to be distraught.

She had to admit that made her feel better. She also had to admit she hoped they didn't get what was going on out of Delilah until she was safe with their father. Once she made it to New York the first thing she did was go find a real meal. Then she headed to find her father. That took a little longer than she expected mostly because she was lost. Once she finally found her way finding him was easy. When she saw him she knew immediately that it was him. "Hi. Are you Gabriel James?" she asked just to be sure. Once he'd answered she smiled a little. She'd barely thrown up the whole trip but she'd managed to get medication before she left for that and she was running low on it now. She bit down on her lower lip and she sighed. "My name is Charlotte Eloise Scott. It used to be James. I'm your daughter." She could tell he looked dumbfounded so she continued. "I know I'm not eighteen yet but can I stay with you?" she asked. "I need somewhere safe to be." she added before showing him the pregnancy test. "I'll tell you everything if I have to. I just need to be safe first." she finally finished.

Dear Charlie,

I can already tell you that you're not going to believe this letter. So let's start with some things that only you know. When you were eight that's when it all started. Nothing was ever the same after that. At nearly fifteen you fell pregnant and you had a miscarriage. To this day I'm the only one who knows. By the only one I mean look in the mirror. Right now you're what? Twenty two years old? Isabella is only what? Almost three or maybe by now she is three. Who knows. The point is what you're reading is right. You're actually reading a letter from the future. As I write this I'm forty-two. Yeah. Twenty years have passed. Now before you start trying to figure out what's going on let me be clear. I will only give you information that you need. First of all I will say this. Your career is still going wonderfully. You're career has thrived over the past two decades.

Bella has thrived. Like you she did hit a few bumps along the way but she's thrived. Dancing is still her number one passion. It's such a passion that she actually hasn't let dating interfere. You would love the woman she's become. I'm hella proud of her that's how I know. Then comes your son. He's seventeen. He's got a bit of an attitude but you always say he gets it from his grandfather. The old man's doing better now by the way. We'll get to him and the rest of the family later. Now I know you think Bella and dad are close but just wait until you see him with Nolan. That's going to be a real treat and something that you won't believe until you see it for yourself. Then there's your other little girl. She's a little spitfire that one. It's no wonder why we named her what you did. She still hates her name and insists she goes by her middle name.

What made you name her Anastasia Elizabeth anyways? Eh. I know already but yeah. The point is she's your bookworm. She's constantly got a nose in a book and she's your straight A student. She helps Nolan with his homework. While Nolan nor Bella have been bad Nolan's definitely your handful. But that's okay. He takes after his dad. Why you left him will become clear when you decide to leave him. Just know your son looks exactly like his father. You could say Anastasia does too but she takes more after Delilah and you actually. Don't worry about your ex. You still talk. In fact recently you two have been on a couple of dates but you haven't told the kids because you don't know what's happening. The point is you're not ALONE. Even if you were you wouldn't be because of your kids. Bella wants to move out and maybe she will eventually but I think you're the reason she hasn't yet.

Next comes Delilah. You two are closer than you've ever been, at least closer than you can remember. The point being within the last twenty years you've ended up telling her everything. She knows about your stepdad. She knows about everything. Yes. There are two more people NOW who know about the two miscarriages. Well three but you told your ex about it after you told Delilah. She's the one who convinced you to open up to your dad about it. The point I'm making is you don't have to be scared to let everyone in completely. They're your family. They love you and by now where I am... You know this. Everyone loves and accepts you. And you have even found solace in talking to them. Your life is right where you want it. You own a beautiful home and even though you're thinking about adopting you won't do it unless all three of your kids are on board. Hell let's face it. You even want your dad's approval just because you want to know his opinion and just how he feels on it.

Speaking of the old man. He's doing better than he was. That's all I'll say on that but in the next couple of years your respect for him will definitely grow and that's a definite good thing. You think the two of you are close now? Just wait. As you get older you're going to be even happier that he's in your life. You know that already I'm sure. Good news! Jill isn't leaving your life or your family. I know you've been curious about that but she's sticking it out for the long ass haul and that it really is but I guess she thinks like you do. Your family is worth it. Just don't stay closed off too long and hopefully things can work out even faster. Don't ever give up on your family or what you want out of life. It may take a bit longer but you will definitely not regret it.

A place lost.

"Charlotte. Let's go. Don't dwaddle." She looked up at her mother and she sighed inwardly. It had been a week since her father vanished from her life. A week since she felt like she was alone. Yes she had her mother and 'Mommy's friend' and she had her big sister but she didn't have her dad anymore. She didn't have him to make her feel safe and the truth was ever since her mother told her he was gone she didn't feel safe anymore. "CHARLOTTE ELOISE! COME ON! Hearing her mother use her full name the little girl ran and took her big sister's hand. She knew that Delilah did as her mother wanted. "We're going to see your grandparents and it's important that you are on your best behavior." Charlotte nodded. It was no time and her mother was knocking on their door. Delilah had straightened Charlotte's dress and smoothed her hair. When her grandmother answered the door Charlotte forced a smile.

"Hello girls. Come in." She watched as her grandmother hugged her mother. "Don't worry dear. They'll be fine." She turned in time to see her mother smile. "Behave girls." She was ushered inside where she looked around. There used to be pictures of everyone. Photos of her parents together. Her dad and both girls. Her dad as a kid. Now there was nothing. Not even photos of her and Delilah. She looked around and instinctively moved closer to her sister. "Well don't just stand there girls. Come in." Every step Delilah made Charlotte was with her. She knew they were her father's parents but that didn't make her feel any more at ease. When she was picked up by her grandfather she nearly screamed. "I want down!" she exclaimed. He hugged her then put her down and once again she was glued to her sister's side. "There's no need to be scared. We're your grandparents." She looked up at Delilah who she could tell forced a smile.

"I want my daddy." she managed to get out. She looked at her grandparents who looked hurt. She didn't blame them though. She could tell they both wanted to say something but they both kept quiet. The girls were ushered into the kitchen and and over to the table. "Do you still like cookies?" Before Charlie could say a word Delilah gave them a look. "I know it's been like two weeks but who doesn't like cookies?" she asked. Charlie could hear her grandparents laugh. "Go on. Dig in." When Delilah handed her a cookie she waited until Delilah tried it herself. When she took her bite Charlotte did the same. The first cookie was fine and the girls even took photos with their grandparents. As the day went on Charlotte began to calm down and she didn't cling to Delilah so much. Once the first batch of cookies and milk was gone they played outside and made more memories. The day was all in all well. It was definitely a day for the books.

After playing outside it was time to come in and watch movies. The girls both wanted to watch their favorites. They each picked a movie and they watched. It was during the second movie that they were given what they were told was warm milk. Not long after drinking some of it each girl fell asleep. When Charlotte woke up what had to be hours later because it was dark outside she was in the room she shared with Delilah. She was in her own bed and she could see that Delilah was waking up from her own bed. She was a little confused but she pulled the blankets off of her. She was a little surprised to see that she was in her pajamas. "Lilah.." She whispered. She moved to crawl into her sister's bed. "What happened?" she asked her older sister. When Delilah shrugged she sighed softly. Charlotte was at a small loss. The last thing she remembered was watching Beauty and the Beast at her grandparents house.

When the door opened and their Mother walked in both girls looked up at her curiously. "I see you're awake now girls. Good." Charlotte's gaze turned toward her sister. She was feeling very confused. "Charlotte. It's time to go." Charlie stayed close to Delilah. She didn't know what her mother meant by that though. Her mother came over and pulled her away from Delilah and led her out of the room. Eight year old Charlotte had no clue what was going on. She'd spent the day in a place that she didn't even know she'd never see again. It was a day/evening full of new things and she was fairly certain it wasn't good things just by how things ended up. "You're finally big enough to have your own room." She looked up at her mother as they made their way down the hall. Her own room? She was confused but when her mother opened the door she saw that it was completely decorated and it had things in it that she'd begged for but her mother had said no to.

"Now I hope you like it. Your new dad decorated it for you." She looked at her mother and then looked at the man standing in her room. "Come in. Come see what I've done for you." She took a few steps in and looked at the room. She looked in her closet and she made a face. "That's a lot of dresses. Are you sure this isn't Lilah's room?" she asked looking down at her own clothes. "Little girls should wear dresses." She stopped and gave them both a look. "I can't play kickball in a dress!" Her mother knelt down to her level. "That's another thing. Little girls shouldn't play kickball." Charlotte huffed. She looked around and saw how pretty her room was and she liked it but she was confused. "Does Lilah get a new room too." When the man in the room said we're thinking about it Charlie gave him a look. "I don't want it. Give it to Lilah." The two adults were confused. "What's wrong with your room?" Charlotte sighed. "Lilah gets a new room too or I go share hers with her." She was very adamant about it. The two seemed to whisper before agreeing. "We'll do Delilah's room while you two are at school." Charlotte smiled. "I will sleep in my room with Delilah till then." She turned and walked out of the room.

She walked back into the room she shared with Delilah and climbed into her sister's bed. "Mommy wants me to wear only dresses." she said with a face. She could hear Delilah laugh to herself. She was a little confused but she wasn't sure what to say. She just curled up and sighed. "I'm sleeping with you tonight." She said simply before making herself as comfortable as possible. She bit down on her lower lip while she tried to fall asleep. She was thinking about the room and how pretty it was but she was also thinking about the fact that they weren't even going to do the same for her big sister. That didn't sit well with her. She sighed to herself before closing her eyes so she could see what the next day would bring.

A day around New York.

A day in the park. That sounded like the perfect Saturday. Sure Charlie was extra cautious since the last time they went to any kind of park Bella ended up kidnapped. If it wasn't for Reyes she wouldn't have been found but the point was she and Bella had both been too afraid to go but she wasn't going to let that ruin her daughter's love of the park. "Come on baby girl." They'd made it back to the park and she could feel how tense Bella's hand was around her. "No mommy. I scared." Charlotte knelt down to her daughter's level and she smiled. "Do you see all of those kids playing?" she asked. When Bella nodded she smiled. "They want to play with you. Don't worry. Mommy will be close by. I promise. Nothing will happen to you." She reassured her. Just as she said that she could feel Bella shiver. "It is a little chilly isn't it baby girl?" she asked knowing her daughter would say yes. "Here. Put this on." She reached into the bag she carried for Bella and pulled out a small sweater. "This will help." She helped her daughter get into it and she smiled.

She watched Bella pause when they neared the other kids. She looked at the expression on her daughter's face and she sighed to herself. She knew that this would be a process but she wasn't sure how much of a process this would be. "Look up." She saw a few leaves falling off of a nearby tree. "Isn't that pretty?" she asked. When Bella nodded and pulled her body against Charlie's she leaned down to pick her up. "Do you like the pretty colors?" she asked. When Bella nodded and rested her head on Charlotte's shoulder she knew the park wasn't going to work. She knew that they would have to try the park when either Delilah or her dad could come with them. Bella wasn't having it. She didn't blame her though. She thought they made some real progress. Only time would tell with how things would work out though. She held Bella close and she tried to think of something for them to do, something fun that she knew Bella would absolutely love.

That was when it hit her. They'd go to one of the many harvest festivals that would be around New York. This was the first one she'd heard about but she knew that Bella would love it. "Wanna go somewhere fun with Mommy?" she asked. She could feel Bella nod so she turned around while still carrying her. She tried to remember where the festival was going to be and then it hit her. On the way into the park she'd seen a sign for it. Turning around she headed for the park entrance to see if the flyer was still there. She sighed in relief when she found that it was. She read the sign and realized the festival wasn't far away. "Do you want to walk a bit?" she asked. When Bella shook her head she laughed. "Good thing I brought the stroller." She removed the bag from the seat and put it underneath and she put Bella in the stroller. "Don't worry. Here." She handed the girl a drink.

She knew it would be a bit of a walk but she was up for it. She also knew that with the fact that while it was chilly when the wind blew the heat hadn't passed. While she was thankful for that because Bella hated winter and even some fall clothing. She loved her dresses and shorts. That was just the type of girl she was. Once they made it to the festival she could tell Bella's spirits had brightened. "Come on Mommy!" she pointed just about every direction. Bella led her to face painting first. That didn't surprise her at all. When it was Bella's turn Charlie smiled. She asked if the face painting could be done with Bella in the stroller and luckily it could. "What do you want to get?" she asked. Bella was given a ton of options but she smiled. "Can I has two?" she asked. Charlie was okay with it and so was the person doing it. "I wants.. corn and ainbow." she said pointing to a unicorn and a rainbow.

Once Bella had her face paint the two went to get a treat. Once they got a treat they sat down to enjoy it. Bella got a caramel apple and Charlie got a popcorn ball. Once they were done Charlie cleaned Bella up and she smiled. "That had to be good because it's all over you." she laughed. Just then her phone went off. It was Delilah with a face time. She answered. "Hi. We're at the Harvest Festival." Before she could say another word Bella took her phone. "Hii hii!" She let Delilah and Bella talk for a few minutes. Once they were done she talked for a moment and then hung up. "Come on. Let's enjoy the festival." she stood up and turned the stroller. When she turned around she hit someone. Turning around she felt her face flush. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hit you. I was trying to turn my daughter's stroller around!" she felt horrible. "Are you okay?" she asked curiously.

Goodbye Dear Friend.

Charlotte sat back and she stared at Dawson and Kate. She was lucky to have the two best friends a girl could have. Twin siblings who never fought at least to her knowledge. The only two people other than Delilah who knew almost how bad things were at home. She never told them the full story because she knew she'd be making things worse if she did. She knew they'd be there for her but she wasn't sure they wouldn't go to the authorities. She wanted them to but she was sure that if they did things would be far too unbearable at home. Things were so bad she spent every moment she could with Dawson and Kate. She knew Dawson had a thing for her older sister but she also knew Delilah wouldn't give him the time of day. She loved her sister and she loved Dawson but she knew both of them well enough to know that would never work even if she liked the idea of them together as well.

It was the Summer Charlotte was going to turn sixteen. That's when it happened. They'd been out of school for a few weeks and Dawson had just gotten his license. Kate had hers for a bit longer but the two of them had been discussing who would drive. Dawson won. Kate had insisted that Charlie sit in the front seat. She wasn't sure why but she shrugged. She did as she was wanted. They decided to just go riding around town. Of course Charlotte wasn't going to pass that up. It kept her out of the house. That night was no exception. She was going to stay the night with Kate and the three of them were going to have a movie marathon in the basement. It was a night that she was actually looking forward to. She was looking forward to the cheesy movies Kate would pick. The action movies Dawson would pick and especially the comedies she already had in mind.

That night would never happen. Things took a turn for worse when Dawson thought it would be a good idea to get into a race with one of his buddies. Kate was in the back not wearing a seat belt yelling at him to slow down. Dawson was driving also not wearing a seat belt laughing his ass off. Charlotte was in the front seat holding on tightly but she had her seat belt on. That was something her dad instilled in her way before he 'died'. When they crashed no one saw it coming. Not even Charlotte. She wanted him to slow down too. She wanted to enjoy the night and in the moment she was terrified of a wreck happening. She wasn't sure at first what happened. When she opened her eyes she could see another car and a pole. Everything was blurry at first. She was in pain. She tried shifting but everything hurt. Was she even alive? She tried to look over at Dawson. "Daw-Dawson?" she managed to get out. He wasn't even fully in the car anymore. He was hanging out of the windshield.

She could feel tears well up in her eyes. She couldn't even turn around to see how Kate was. "HELP!" She got out. She managed to get it out a time or two before she heard someone. "I called for help." She was thankful and it wasn't long after that the girl heard sirens. When help arrived they had to pry her door open end pull her out. They put her on a gurney and they checked her out. "Wait wait!" She cried. "Dawson and Kate. How are Dawson and Kate?" She could see them doing everything to pull Kate out of the back. She also saw them put her on a gurney and cover most of her body. Whether or not they covered her head she couldn't see. She turned her head to see them trying to get Dawson out of the car. She heard someone say it was going to blow soon. She also heard them say to get her and Kate to a hospital asap. They closed her up in an ambulance. They closed Kate in another.

The trip to the hospital was definitely daunting. When they arrived it was hard for her to stay awake. She kept drifting off but they managed to keep her awake for the most part. Once they took her vitals and everything they ran a test to see if she had a concussion and it turns out she did. She escaped the wreck with minor scrapes and bruises and the concussion. Kate however was in ICU she learned. Her mom and stepdad showed up and they were hugging on her and wouldn't let her go. Delilah showed up too. She managed to get their parents to leave the room and that's when she told her that Dawson didn't make it. Charlotte began to cry. It wasn't long before Dawson and Kate's parents came to see her. They hugged her and they said they were sorry. She hugged them and told them how much she loved their family. They stayed for a few minutes before going to the ICU to be with Kate. Charlotte felt bad.

She looked at Delilah. "I'm sorry." She could see the confusion on Delilah's face. "I'm sorry that I haven't been a good sister. I'm sorry that I'm never home." she paused. She wasn't sorry for that but she was sorry she wasn't there for her big sister. She made it through and was released from the hospital the next day. Luckily for her Delilah spent the night with her. The next day Delilah drove her home and made sure she was set up in her room. She kept in touch with Dawson and Kate's parents getting updates on Kate and making sure to help plan Dawson's funeral. They asked if she would speak and she said yes. She knew they had so much on their plate plus trying to make sure Noah and Ellie were taken care of. She knew it was the least she could do. The day of the funeral came and she was more distraught than she wanted to be publicly but that was to be expected.

After the funeral she continued her sneaked conversations with her father and it wasn't too long after that she knew that before her birthday that summer she was going to find him. She couldn't stand to stay in Roswell any longer. She loved her sister but she felt like she was basically Dawson's killer even though he was driving. She packed up a bag or two. Made her bed look like she was sleeping and she headed out to the bus station. "Goodbye Roswell!" she said as she boarded her first bus on the way to see none other than her father. She wasn't sure how he would react when she got there but one thing was for sure. She wanted to make sure that she put a good distance between her and Roswell. She'd left a coded message for her sister in her purse so she knew she'd see it when she went in there.

Master Bedroom. Charlotte’s domain. Her personal space. The one place other than her bathroom that is done exactly how she wants it. Most people who know her think that because of her personality that her room’s probably bright and well lit. While it is well lit it’s a bit on the darker side. Her room does get plenty of light and it is well lit but when you walk in it’s a bit darker than the rest of the house and that’s just how she likes it. Unless she’s got her blackout shades down that is. Then it becomes a pitch black room and when she’s sleeping that’s just how she likes it.

Master Bath. Charlotte’s own bath. While Bella does share a bathroom with Delilah she generally takes a bubble bath in Charlotte’s bathroom. Her bathroom has a more feminine vibe than her bedroom but she likes it that way. She likes how her bathroom looks, the way it feels and everything. Attached but not pictured is her closet. It’s a walk in that she’s somewhat obsessed with. Also not pictured is the shower at the foot of the tub. There’s a small rug in front of the toilet and a rug in front of the tub/shower and sink. All rugs are very plush. Also not mentioned. The robe hanging on the rack. 

Bella’s Bedroom. Ever since Charlie’s dad showed Bella a princess themed room he’d found and thought she’d like it’s been hell. Between Gabe, Charlie, and Delilah they’ve been transforming the tot’s room into a 'wincess’ room. The progress is pictured. She’s also got a toddler bed that she sleeps in pushed to one empty side and an area that her special bed is being put together in. Her dad had to show her the castle bed didn’t he? Charlotte is making him put that together. She knows he’s doing it because he loves Bella so much so she’s thankful. Also not pictured are all of the princess toys this little girl is obsessed with or all of her ‘babies’.
