The world has ended. Only with magic could it begin again.

The United States is no more. From the ashes of a climate catastrophe, the American Federation was born. This fledgling country was made possible by a hidden American magical community, who aided when the annihilation of all people seemed inevitable. It was nearly too late, but cooperation between a desperate government and this magical population saved what was left. Now, magic and technology bolster the defenses of the American Federation’s six remaining cities, with wide swathes of barren, open space stretching in the space between. In those wastelands, the stubborn and desperate remain, left to form their own communities and carve their own way of life.

For its nearly fifty years of existence, the American Federation has been scarred by violence. Resource battles and scarcity plunged the young country into a twenty-eight year war with its European rival, Novaya Rossiya. It is only in the decade since winning the war that the American Federation has known something like peace at least. But it is a fragile peace, with tensions rising, the environment barely controlled, and a growing separatist movement in the capital city, New York, who aren’t sure their world has truly been saved.

The year is 2179 and the world has begun again. Humans and magi might just be its downfall.
