Just when I was debating if I should participate in Art Fight this year, I'm met with irritation and disappointment,,,

Listen, as someone who does art and has been to various art classes (since middle school), references are your friend! Use them! Utilize them when you're trying to get a specific pose! Not everything can be off the dome! Whether it is from a 3D model, stock picture, screenshot, or even a photo of yourself, references help a lot when you're struggling with poses!

I've always been in art classes where we use real life as influences and inspirations for our works. And there's times where we do still life and look at actual people to practice with how lighting, color, and structure work. Hell, all my professors and teachers have told me that using references is good! Not everyone is going to memorize every little detail of the body or objects and it's good to look at references to remind ourselves that.

Also, it's just ignorant to dismiss people who really need references for their art, because you don't know exactly why they need it. It's also ignorant and wrong to refer it as 'tracing' because those are two different things!

Anyways, sorry for the ramble, just... whoever tells you that references are wrong to use, they are setting you up for failure.
