So, my Quickdraw Subnautica AU... I honestly have two version with different headcanons for them, one for Subnautica 1 and another for Subnautica: Below Zero. I'll talk about the first game here and post the BZ ones another day.
This are both my personal headcanons and/or ideas in case anyone wants to also imagine this two together in this game.
Any questions, additions or anything is welcomed because I love talking about both games and this ship.
• Subnautica 1: Cayde and Crow getting stranded on 4546B •
Both are Non-Essential Systems Maintenance workers (AKA janitors)
Cayde can't actually float or swim, he's too heavy and is constantly sinking, so he carries Floaters and Air Bladders to go up. If they ever want to do a quick deep dive, Crow just holds onto him and lets himself be dragged down. This somewhat stopped once they got the Seaglide/Seamoth/PRAWN/Cyclops but they still do the deep dive thing occasionally.
They only made one Seamoth and one PRAWN Suit, to "save resources" (they are just gay). When they need to go somewhere they either take both to the place or (more often than not) only take one, and one of them sits on the lap of whoever is piloting the vehicle at the moment.
Crow rarely sleeps on their base. He will usually go days without resting and end up sleeping over Cayde when they're making their way back to their base. Cayde obviously makes sure to almost empty the Seamoth/PRAWN Power Cells before docking it in the moonpool when this happens.
Crow uses medkits to heal himself, Cayde uses the repair tool.
Glint and Sundance are the names they gave to their PDAs.
Cayde can be temporarily turned off by the Crabsquids EMP.
They constantly fight about who pilots the Cyclops.
Cayde is the only one with a thermoblade, why? Because Crow crafted one, tried doing his little trick with the knife, burned himself and instantly gave it to Cayde as a gift.

If you hate them as much as you love them, you can make all of the occupants of the 9 destroyed Lifepods be other characters of the franchise! I have my own headcanons about who was each of them.
Crow can contract the Kharaa, Cayde being an exo can't get it. But, since Cayde's blood is synthetic, he can't deactivate the Quarantine Enforcement Platform either.
Crow doesn't like showing the progression of the sickness, and it's pretty pissed about Warpers attacking him.
Cayde used to find funny how Warpers would teleport Crow out of any vehicle, stopped finding it that funny when he found out why they do it.
Though the constant attacks became a good excuse for Crow to make the reinforced dive suit that could better hide the pustules of the Kharaa.
Cayde used the Modification Station to install a scanner on his optics to detect Peepers carrying the Enzyme 42 and feed those to Crow hoping it will make the progress of the bacterium slow down. This modification also allows him to constantly being able to scan Crow to check the progress of the Kharaa (which Crow hates).
You can be extra cruel by making any other ship you want be a replacement for the Degasi Crew. Extra points if one of them is an exo who actually outlived their partner and are MIA (I personally went for Saint/Osiris) so Cayde gets to be traumatized about how possible it is for him to loose Crow.
