carving pumpkins with sister dearest @msukirby.
AHHHH! does she look different, dotty wonders? because, well, she feels different. super different! out of this world different! like, okay. so here’s the thing… dotty is an experienced dater, she won’t lie. and kirby knows this about her, so dotty having a new boyfriend? not that surprising! not enough to make her come off differently.
but today? it’s different. it’s not just a boyfriend now… it’s so much more! her soulmate, her forever ever after. her fiancé! yes, you heard her, she said fiancé. who would have thought, right? dorothea bae, expert at everything romantic, FINALLY engaged. eeeek!! it’s literally unbelievable. she feels almost antsy, body bursting with anticipation in sharing the news. she has to tell kirby—
oh, wait, speaking of kirby, what was she doing again? dotty blinks, once, twice, as she comes to her senses, gaze falling upon the pumpkin in front of her. oohhhhh. right. after the (to put it mildly) unsuccessful attempt at making junseong carve pumpkins with her, kirby had promised they’d set aside time for it during the day. but, well, a lot has happened since then! first the apple bobbing, then running into kevin… it’s really just been a rollercoaster of a day!
but… wait, okay. so she’s here with the pumpkins. is kirby here? a quick glance is shot to the side, where sure enough, she finds the familiar form of her sister. wait, what the fuck — just how long had she been spacing out? oh, this won’t do. she really can’t take it anymore, keeping a secret from her sister is impossible!
“oh, kirby, i can’t keep this from you any longer,” she starts, attention now completely focused on her sister, the pumpkin in front of her forgotten. dotty doesn’t give kirby much of a chance to react before she keeps going, anxious to just get on with it already. “i’m finally getting married!”
her pumpkin’s looking real cute, if kirby dare say so herself. it’s very tongue in cheek, too. she’s been waiting for dotty to ask her what she’s making, but for that to happen her sister has to look up from that weird staring contest she’s having with her own pumpkin first. she just wants to say ‘i’ve carved myself’ and see the look of confusion on dotty’s face. pay attention, dot.
okay, so she didn’t actually carve herself into the pumpkin, but a version of herself. it’s the muggle video character ‘kirby’, some pink monster who sucks up its worst enemies and then assumes their shape. honestly, she could relate to that. seems like a very useful power to have. ever since she’d become aware of the character, kirby’s felt a bit of an attachment to it. it’d explain the shelf full of plushies of that pink blob in her room, anyway. but yeah. dotty hasn’t said a word, and that’s… weird. it’s kind of worrying, actually. her sister’s the talkative of them two, if she’s quiet that usually means there’s trouble ahead—
‘i’m finally getting married!’ oh, boy. there it is.
“to the pumpkin?” it’s said in such a manner that it’s obvious kirby’s heard this kind of drivel before. at this point, her sister’s claimed she’s about to be wed at least five times in the past month alone. and she loves dotty, she does. but it’s obvious that at this point she has a difficult time believing anything that pours from her sister’s mouth. about her love life, anyway.
“oh, dot, i know i’ve said before that it’s possible for you to fall in love with anyone,” she’s sighing. “but i only said that because i was tired of your straight nonsense.”
