I mean its moreso the fact its a slur in of itself, there would've been similar reactions if she was called a sp*zz or heathcliff was called a g*psie like im pretty sure he is in the original WH novel

i mean yeah? the severity of the word is the point of it being used, to show how much crueler valencina is than her just being a regular foul-mouthed person

if g*psie being used didnt break immersion due to it being tied to a real-life group of people, i wouldnt have been too surprised seeing it in context with heathcliff

i understand what youre saying, that it feels different to see an actual harmful word being used rather than describing a characters view with actions or intent, but valencina is a very outwardly direct person, she isnt going to be sly with her malice like linton was
