MOUNT ST. HELENS ROAD 25 LANDSLIDE - June 8th 2023
Landslide on Forest Road 25 at milepost 26, officials closed the road just south of its junction with Forest Road 99 in the north part of the forest. On the south end of the forest, the road will be closed past the junction of Forest Road 25 and 93.

He and Edie, his wife, brought the car back to Spirit Lake from Detroit.
1928-29 — Before the Mount St. Helens lodge, this was his home.
When Harry Truman moved to Spirit Lake, he was in a partnership with Jack Wilson, who became one of Harry’s most un-favorite people, who agree to sell him only half-interest in the lodge, and charge him $2500.00. Good old Fred had his moonshine money buried in a pot in his yard, and he gave it to Harry for the purchase. After paying Wilson the money, Harry and Fred quickly drove to the Stevenson Courthouse to record the transaction, taking along some moonshine to celebrate the event.
Harry bought that half of the lodge in June, 1928 and by the end of July had built himself a house on the property. Relations between Harry and Jack Wilson continued to deteriorate, culminating that fall in Harry buying Wilson out for $1200.00 and throwing him off the place. For years Harry loved to tell the story, with many expletives and much body English, as was his way, concluding with his throwing a chamber pot at the departing Wilson.

The lake was regulated by a 1920s log dam built by Henry Coe to raise Spirit Lake to give closer access to water for the Sweden and Norway mines.
