10/10 Godzillas, they looks amazing, keep up the good work!
Hey, thanks! That truly makes me happy to hear.
Some old scientist dude trying out a weird concoction on himself with, let's face it, completely predictable results.
Just a Quick Little comic I made after I wanted to make a transformation sequence.
A couple of months ago I bought myself a new sketch book in an attempt to help me get back into drawing on a more regular basis after a long period of inactivity and so far it seems to be working.
Drawing some Godzilla seemed like a good way to kick things off with the book and I decided to try my hand at emulating a more classic, early Showa era look.
Nice to see you posting art again! I missed seeing new stuff from you. I was getting worried something bad happened.
Nah, nothing bad happened or anything like that. I got a job about a year and a half ago which is quite physical in nature and leaves me just a bit drained when I finally get home in the evening. I'm not complaining or anything, I like to be able to eat and pay rent after all, but it did stifle my creativity for quite some time and while I did some stuff here and there (like what I recently put up for example) it's only been relatively recently where it feels like I've actually got some inspiration back and started drawing again on a somewhat regular basis.
I've got quite a few pages of sketches and doodles on hand already which I'll upload to the blog one by one, as well as ideas for a bit larger projects I hope to get to down the line.
I colored this a long time ago, not all that long after I made the lineart version now that I think about it, but I never actually posted it on the blog so I thought it was about time I rectified that.
Cheers!
Finally decided to get off my ass and start uploading some art to this blog again.
These are already quite a bit old by now and were an attempt to come up with a personal design for Godzilla. Don't know if I'll continue working with the design or not but I still like it enough to at least put these sketches here.
I finally got myself a job again! I was there today for some info, getting my work clothes and signing some papers.
This has seriously eased a lot of the worries I've been having lately and you won't believe how excited I am about this.
Here's a Godzilla I sketched up a while ago. Don't really know what else to say really, but enjoy.
In the comic I'm currently working on there's a battle with a group of bandits early on. Although they're pretty much just a bunch of random mooks I didn't want them to look the same so I threw this together as I tried making them look distinct from one another.
Okay, here are some sketches I made during the holiday season when visiting my family. If i ever get around to drawing a space adventure comic sometime, then the guys at the top will be one of the alien races present in it.
This thing started with me simply sketching Godzilla one day. I thought it would be a waste of a perfectly fine piece of paper to just stop there however so I started adding a few more monsters here and there. I then inked the whole thing and this is the result.
I'm already in the process of adding some color to this so expect to see that soon as well.
Here are some sketches I made in december. I didn't really plan any of these out beforehand, just improvising and drawing whatever happened to come to mind.
Here's some more sketches, this time featuring Gamera himself. I Think I've mentioned this before but when I draw Gamera I try to incorporate design aestethics from the various incarnations he's had over the years, but the biggest inspirations are definitely from Kaneko's trilogy of movies as well as the adult Gamera that briefly appeared in Gamera the Brave.
Expect to see a lot more kaiju art the following year.
Here's some more Gamera sketches I really should have uploaded in time for the turtle's 50th birthday. This time it's the alien squid monster Viras and just like with Guiron I tried playing around with the design a bit but finally settled on the look you see here.
Okay, this is something I made last year. What I basically did here was trying to redesign Guiron, one of Gamera's more goofy looking enemies. As you can see I tried working with both a quadrupedal as well as a semi-bipedal posture, but I'm not sure whether I like one more than the other.
I probably should get back and finish this one in the future.
Have a head-shot of Gamera. I really should draw the big turtle more often.
