In this ERA of Education
I am Sheela and I come from the generation where visual media was never a part of education and the full focus was on text books.
When I started assisting my granddaughter aged 6 years old, in her homework, I have realized there is a sea change the way education in coming era is being taught.
I am really excited to read about experiential learning and I experience the same with her. However I feel more needs to be done in the said area. Experiential education needs to be more utilized in elementary and secondary schools as these are the most vital years for children to understand subjects with more practical and hands on natural experiences.
Instead of simply reading text books, I noticed that, my little granddaughter enjoys her lessons in form of group activities or through media exposure. The beauty is, immediately she connects the same with either text book or story books that was taught to her and with self-confidence does thinking and shares her thought process. I really enjoy that. It builds a long relationship with her along with her studies.
I am convinced experiential learning is playing a vital role with hands on experience. In fact I enjoy learning from her new techniques.
