Good or bad?

Bumpy, flawed and reddish. That was how my skin looked like!

If you read my previous post, ( if you haven’t, trust me you want to read it!) you would know what had happened to my skin and both breathing trees in my chest. But hey, don’t worry, because i’m feeling perfectly fine now and my skin has gotten better and cleared up!

This one culprit that has caused me teeny weeny, red rashes, with pus all over my face or in medical term, Eczema. I have an acne prone and sensitive skin. It is very, very hard for me to find a very good product that suits my skin. 

To be honest, before I changed my skincare product last month, I had been using local skin care product for so long and for heaven’s sake my skin looked amazing and healthy and glowy but everybody knows that mostly all local products contains harmful chemical that could cause serious health problem. Thus,I’m changing everything.

Let me introduce y’all, the well hyped product on the internet. The Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence with SPF 50+ and PA++++. Yup, the substance in this product has caused my skin to break out frickin bad. I’m NOT trying to say that this product aren’t good at all. it works amazingly and does its job to some people and certain skin type but unfortunately it wasn’t to me. 

I used this sunscreen only for two times. As usually, I applied it every morning before school and, on the first day, I applied my Tea Tree Pore Minimiser after the sunscreen. I noticed tiny red-ish bumps started to appear on my right cheek. I thought it was just some rashes and it’ll be gone. Later that afternoon when I got home after school, it got worse. 

I convinced my self that the reaction happened because of the tea tree Pore Minimiser even though I know it had never been a problem to my skin. Guess What I did? I applied the sunscreen again, but this time WITHOUT the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser. My skin got worst, and this times the red bumps had some pus in it! I could sense something was completely wrong. So I went to see a doctor, whom did not do her job right!

so I went to see another doctor. he confirmed that i had acute eczema and gave me Fucidin to apply on my skin. it’s an antibiotic cream to treat skin infection caused by certain kind of bacteria and I could see the difference after the application. it took at least 7-10 days for my skin to clear up. only God knows how relieved I was when my skin got better!

I sold the sunscreen to a girl on twitter. I hope the product suits her skin. I’m going to be extra careful choosing skincare product wether it’s drugstore or high end product!

Be careful what you put on your face!

So these past few weeks has been hell for me. I was so sick and it all started with me trying this one skincare product. I started to have this allergy reaction which I never thought it was actually eczema and at the same time caused asthma.

I Tried Biore Watery Essence Sunblock because I decided to change my skincare products. I applied it on my face for two days. I started to see the reaction on the first day, but I thought it was because of my primer that doesn’t suit my skin. But actually, it didn’t make any sense at all because I had no problem with the primer before and obviously it was the sunblock but I was dumb and I was trying to prove to myself that the product was good.

I thought the allergy reaction I had was normal rashes and I went to see this one doctor which didn’t do her job right (luckily I’m still alive!), she gave me cold medicine which actually can be used to treat rashes or allergy and a bottle of coughing syrup and I consumed the medicines but still coughing so bad after two days and the rashes were still there.

Last Thursday, I went to school and then my friend said I shouldn’t be at school because I was sick and I need to rest, so I decided to leave and straightaway went to see another doctor. The doctor was sooo good, it was a brief consultation and he said that I have eczema and bronchitis.

I consumed the pills and coughing syrup on time but I was still coughing like crazy. This morning I decided to go to see the doctor again and when he checked my breathing he said that it’s actually asthma and he couldn’t hear it that day, it wasn’t loud.

To be honest, I wasn’t surprised because I’ve read a few articles online regarding Eczema and I knew that it is related to asthma. I was given an injection on my shoulder, it still sore though, and I had to inhale the mist from nebuliser. I felt better after, as if someone opened the window in my chest and let the wind blew in and out of it. But trust me, it’s sad that there are certain food that I have to avoid eating and I was craving for ice cream! The worst part, I can’t let my cats to chill in my room for the time being.

In 24 years of living (actually almost 25) I never thought beauty products could make me sick, it’s just unbelievable. Usually people suffer from eczema since they were babies! So, why the almost 25 years old me!? My fingers are currently tingling and numb  while writing this but I’m strong enough that I went out with my friends today!

Whatever it is,  I’m grateful, I am feeling better now but trust me, I kind of afraid to try new beauty products. If drug store products could cause something like this, imagine those that aren’t KKM approved? Yikes, I learned my lesson!

Thankful, Grateful.

That’s what people say, when you travel you gain experience and if you’re lucky you make friends. 

Yes, you see it right, the lady sitting beside me has one leg. I met Ines when I was in Langkawi. I still remember when I first saw her at the hotel. I mentioned her to Cherie with sympathy, as she was walking up the stairs, exceptionally fast for a lady who walked with crutches. She was swimming at the beach too, alone. I swear I could never, in a million years, do whatever she did!

To my surprise, she joined us for Diane’s birthday dinner. I had a great conversation with her. This smart and humorous lady came alone all the way from German for work (I’m sure she had an amazing job) and then to Langkawi to celebrate her life. She had her leg amputated because of Cancer. She told me, she’s happy and grateful that she’s still alive for she can be dead years ago. There’s no reason in the world that could make her look at this life in different perspective and there’s nothing could stop her from living. 

As human we whine for every small things we faced in life. Meeting her has taught me to be more grateful and happy for whatever I have in life and no matter what I’m facing I should know some people could be facing something worst than me. This life is a crazy roller coaster with lots of ups and downs. Strong and grateful is the only thing serve on the menu. 

I’m grateful for my family who’s always with me, thankful for my friends who always love me and this blissful life and good health Allah has given me.

Because I Was Born To Stand out

This make look was inspired by Demi Lovato's makeup look but I did some changes to it by applying the eye shadow in different way and added some glitter eyeliner because I'm a Glitter addict! 

I complete this whole look with the brand new and limited edition Matte Me Metallic lipstick that was sent to me by Sleek MakeUp! Oh yeah, I went to my friends' wedding on the same day and my makeup received loads of compliments!

School’s out, Say hello to school holidays!

It’s such a big relief that it is finally school holidays.

It feels as if I had finally let go of a big load on my back! I’ve been struggling to wake up in the morning for these past few weeks which I have no idea why. It’s not that I hate my job because I actually love it, so I guess I was just too tired.  24 days of break means I can sleep in, stay up late, jog every evening or just do anything that I’d like doing. Unfortunately I’m not going anywhere this holiday.

Last day of school was tiring.

 It was a half schooling day but hella tiring. I’m sure because I did things non stop. I printed some Christmas Cards for my students because my dumb self  didn’t buy any gifts, and Aeon and some other malls were close due to 4 days of power outage. I blamed myself for not being prepared and organized though. 

There was class party in both of my classes, Grade 3 and 4 (yup, I was super full) and then I was invited to Kindergarten party. They had a legit party with helium balloons, clowns and beautiful decorations!

I received few presents even though I don’t celebrate Christmas. Nobody can ever say no to gift, NOT ME! I received Bath & Body Works candles, shower gel and some treats including American treats Amanda’s mom brought from The States.

It was such a great last day of school. Now I just want to enjoy my break!

Life changing foundation hack!!

Who doesn’t love cake? Especially the beautiful one with colourful frosting on top with some sprinkles. Cake can be messy sometimes but who cares as long as it taste amazing, right?

But no, I’m not writing a cake recipe, if that is what you’re thinking. but this post is about cake face and how to avoid it!

Cakey foundation or cake face happen when we apply too much foundation, concealer or powder. The result is a super thick makeup that look like you have a overdone makeup mask on.  it’s just a little silly blunder that lead to a disaster!

So how to rid of cake face?

I always start with toner to remove dirt and oil on my face. I’m using The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner, it has done wonder to my skin and my skin felt better and I noticed my skin produced less acne. this step is skippable but Toner is great and necessary for people with oily skin. 

Moisturize your skin! 

Once you’ve toned your face, it’s time to apply moisturizer. Moisturizer helps to hydrate our skin so it would not overproduce oil due to dehydration. Let the moisturizer sip into your skin for about 1 to 2 minutes. My favourite moisturizer is The Body shop Aloe Instant Soothing Rescue Gel.

Chase the shine away with primer!

After moisturizer, it’s time to apply primer and it is a MUST for people with oily skin because its function is to combat shine and create a smooth canvas to apply foundation. Trust me, your makeup will stay longer and looking flawless too! The primer that I’m currently using is Benefits Cosmetics The POREfessional face primer. I am OBSESSED  with it. alwyas, always, always make sure to use the right primer that suits your skin type. I used The Body shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser before but it made my face look super cakey even though I prep my skin as how I usually do. 

Powder work its magic!

Now, this is the significant step of all! The key to a flawless looking foundation is to apply powder over your primer. The powder that I’m talking about is loose powder not pressed or compact powder. I use Catrice Cosmetics Nude Illusion Loose Powder in transparent matt. You can use loose powder that has colour to it to give your skin extra coverage. Applying powder over primer will lock all the product you applied into your skin.

It’s  finally time for some foundation!

After the powder it’s time to apply foundation onto the face as usual. I know we were told not to apply cream or liquid over powder but with this tips your foundation is going to stay all day long and they’re not going to look cakey or creasing into the lines on your face or even fail. You can use any foundation, cheap or expensive foundation works the same and with this trick, you will need to use a small amount of Foundation! 

Set them, so they won’t stray!

Last but not least, apply loose powder all over your face to set your foundation. you can skip this step if you have dry and normal skin but for oily skin, I would say it’s better to apply powder after foundation. You can apply concealer if you need to cover your dark circles or eye bags. Apply it after foundation as usual, then set them with powder. Voila, you’re ready to complete your look with some blusher, eyeshadow and lipstick!

So, that is what I do everyday, to make my foundation look flawless and smooth. Say buh-bye to cakey face and hi to the flawless face!

Weekend getaway in Langkawi

Last 3 weekends trip to langkawi was awesome! I was there with Amanda, Cherie, Diane and Gwen to celebrate Diane’s birthday. Few days before the trip, I realised that Diane and Abood share the same birthday! oh how I miss him!

It was my first time in Langkawi, *jaw dropped, I know*. We left school after International day, Thanks to Tim for his kindness though! Flight to kuala Lumpur at 3.40 p.m. I couldn’t remember what time we reached KLIA but fortunately we didn’t miss our next flight to Langkawi.

We reached Langkawi at 7.40 p.m. and Diane picked us from the airport and headed to Berjaya Resort Langkawi, our home for the weekend. It was 15 minutes away from the aiport but in a jungle! 

My real girly girl ass started to hate the place already. It was dark, We had to walk up the hill, a steep hill to get to our room. Thank god, my luggage wasn’t heavy. 

Later that night, we had dinner at Phan-Thai Restaurant which located in the hotel compound. It’s a stilt restaurant over the water, love the ambiance and of course the food too. we ordered a few dishes they’re all good but they came in small portion. I felt kinda bummed because they were kinda expensive! Too bad I don’t have a better photo of us at the restaurant.

I was so tired, but I couldn’t sleep that night and I was tossing and turning until 6 a.m.. Cherie and I decided to go for a morning walk. It was a looooong walk, it took us about 1 hour 30 minutes from our hotel room to the restaurant we went to the previous night which was located at the furthest part of the hotel and back. To be honest, I got sick after the long walk but I enjoyed watching the beauty of the nature. Plus, I saw a few Hornbills and yup I was soooo jakun!

After the long, tiring walk, we met Diane at the beach then headed to Dayang cafe for our breakfast. This was my favourite of all because it’s FOOD and it’s buffet and I could eat whatever I want! There were pastries, salad, western, Malaysian and Indian cuisines.Heaven! but since I was sick I couldn’t & didn’t eat much! The food was soooo good! I love their potato kurma and coconut danish the most. filled with spices and flavorful and I’m currently drooling whilst writing!

We didn’t do much on that day, we spent most of our time at the hotel, relaxing by the beach and pool. and I enjoyed it even though I knew there were so many places to be discovered in Langkawi. Anyhow, me and cherie decided to go to Langkawi Sky Bridge which was located 500 metres away from our hotel. 

Went up to Sky Bridge was totally my idea. I went to OCBC skyway in Singapore and it was fine and I could walk without holding my friend’s hand. Langkawi Sky Bridge was a total different experience! There were soooo many things running in my head as walked on the Sky bridge and when I was sitting in the gondola. It was an experience that scared me to death! 

We took 2 Gondola rides to go to the top. First from the base station to the middle station. We got off the gondola at the middle station & enjoyed the view at the platform. It was crazy crowded but we managed to take some photos. Then, we took our second steep gondola ride to the top station. It was foggy but we could see the view from the top station. It was cool, breezy and we were walking in the cool mist! 

From the top station to the sky bridge we had to walk trough undergrowth and walked up and down high, steep stairs. This was the crazy part which made me regret making the decision I made. I was gasping for air as my unfit body was screaming for help and asking me to stop! I managed to get to the Sky Bridge though, I glad I didn’t give up! It was waaayyy more foggy up there to compare to middle station platform but the spectacular view can be seen and I felt satisfied and happy! the view was beautiful, you can see few islands, hotels. EVERYTHING! 

We walked across the sky bridge and Cherie doesn’t feel scared at all. she acted as it was nothing, as if she was walking on the ground, while I was petrified, walking and trying to hold the railing and praying that I wouldn’t fall off the bridge! Guess what I did next? I stopped walking! My fear has taken over my mind and Cherie had no choice but to hold my hand! Funny? I know, I couldn’t deny it either! But I am proud of myself. I’m super scared of height but I made it up there! We took some photos there too and while we were enjoying the view, two guys approached and asked to take photo with me! I felt like a celebrity but I said no. 

Later that night we went to Casa Del Mar Hotel at Pantai Chenang. Amanda made a reservation for Diane’s birthday dinner. It was a very beautiful 4 stars hotel but the price is way too expensive than our resort! well, I bet it’s because of the location. It was immensely happening while our resort is more private. We had dinner at La Sal Restaurant at the hotel. I love the ambiance especially the sunset and we can watch fire eater show from the nearby bar. I had chicken with blue cheese. It was stupendously scrumptious!! To make it short, I would love to come back, especially with the love of my life, someday. 

Anyway, we did not only celebrate Diane’s birthday but at the same time we were celebrating Ines, Our new friend’s life celebration! I will write about her next time. We had a great night. After dinner we went for a walk and shopped at the retail stores along Pantai Chenang. It reminds me of Batu Ferringhi, but in my opinion I like Batu Ferrighi better, the pasar malam, the crowd and of course the cheaper price! I had shawarma for supper, I’ve been craving for it forever and I couldn’t find a good one in JB. It could say it was a great ending to my amazing night!  

On the second day and also the day were leaving, I woke up at 7.30, Cherie has gone for morning walk. I got up, packed my bag and got ready to hit the pool then to breakfast. While waiting for cherie to come back, I sit on the balcony enjoying the morning air for few minutes. As I entered the room and locked the sliding door, I had a surprise visitors, it’s the monkeys! Not one, but 5! I swear I was so lucky I got into the room before they came or they would acted crazy and would have invaded my room! I have a video of them playing on my balcony but unfortunately I couldn’t get the url, sigh!

I was the first one and alone at the pool. Diane and Cherie decided to go to the beach. I prefer pool better than beach, I have no idea why. The weather was good that morning. I really enjoy my one hour morning swim where nobody watched me.

Amanda and Gwen joined us later for breakfast. We saw Ines at the Cafe and ate together. It was a great breakfast for sure. I am always excited when it’s about food and I got more exited when I saw nicoise salad, alas it wasn’t that good, it had too much vinegar. I had a better one at school’s cafeteria! It was such a bummer. But hey, I should be grateful, everything else was good. 

I couldn’t accept the fact that were leaving on the same day though.So after breakfast I relaxed & lazying around at the pool for few minutes before I went back to my room to get ready to leave.

We  gatherd at the hotel lobby and had some drinks before we left the hotel. It was a welcome drink but we had in before we left, lol! we headed to Pantai Chenang again for some shopping and of course chocolate shopping too!! like seriously, if you go to Langkawi without buying chocolate you’re dumb! They were cheap! I got kinda crazy as I entered the chocolate store. I wanted Lidnt dark chocolate but they didn’t have it in stock anymore! I ended up buying chocolates that I can find in JB because I was lost and didn’t know what I wanted to buy but the price was different and cheap for sure.

After all the shopping, my head was spinning from the heat, Diane drove us to the airport. Returned our rental car and it was time for us to go home. My bag’s weight exceeded 8kg because of all my chocolate and that’s why I hate Air Asia. Luckily Cherie’s bag wasn’t heavy! So I put some of my chocolate and iPad in  her bag and the workers didn’t weight our bag again *thanks for being dumb* and all was good and we’re ready to go home. 

I can’t deny my heart sunk as I get into the airplane and trying to accept the fact that we’re leaving. It was a great weekend get away with the ladies. I was sad before the trip and but I came back happier than ever. Now I can’t wait for another one!

…I can write the saddest poem of all tonight. I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too. On nights like this, I held her in my arms. I kissed her so many times under the infinite sky. She loved me, sometimes I loved her. How could I not have loved her large, still eyes? I can write the saddest poem of all tonight. To think I don’t have her. To feel that I’ve lost her. To hear the immense night, more immense without her. And the poem falls to the soul as dew to grass. What does it matter that my love couldn’t keep her. The night is full of stars and she is not with me. That’s all. Far away, someone sings. Far away. My soul is lost without her. As if to bring her near, my eyes search for her. My heart searches for her and she is not with me. The same night that whitens the same trees. We, we who were, we are the same no longer. I no longer love her, true, but how much I loved her. I’m thankful for the stall, for I know Allah has a better plan for me. However, that doesn’t mean this poor heart of mine is not aching. 

It’s amazing how a person able to make you change, grow and love yourself better.

It’s true, a person entered your life not by accident. They crossed your path for a reason.

What I bought with my Sephora voucher!!

Recently, I’ve been obsessing with colourful makeup looks. I have some palette with colourful eyeshadows but they aren’t pigmented enough for me to create a bomb looking bold makeup look!

Being a makeup addict, I’d do anything for makeup. Joining Sephora contest is what I always do. And I’m considered lucky enough to win most of the contests I joined!

This is what I bought with my RM50 Sephora voucher I recently won, The limited edition Kat Von D Pastel Goth eyeshadow Palette! Does the palette retails at RM50? Of course not! It’s RM175, so I added some of my money to used with the voucher. 

 This palette comes with 8 pastel eyeshadow colours. They’re very pigmented and gorgeous. I always apply concealer as a base before applying eyeshadows, but I totally forgot to apply them when I get to play with this palette for the first time. I was surprised and impressed that the eyeshadow look amazing even without a base!

I know Matte eyeshadows can be a pain in the ass when it comes to blending, especially the bright colours, but all the colours in the palette blend like a dream!!! 

The eyeshadows are kinda powdery with some fall out when picked up from the pan. To me mostly all eyeshadows are like that, and these shortcomings are not going to make me love it any less!

Some people compared this palette to Kat Von D Metal Matte palette. They said Metal Matte is waaaaay waaaay better and claimed that Pastel Goth is shitty and not worth buying. Well I couldn’t say that they’re wrong for I do not own the palette. But After playing with Pastel Goth, I can say that it’s not bad at all and this palette is totally opposite of what they said. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, so this is mine. 

I love this palette so, so much, I’m so glad that it called out to me and I spent my money and the voucher on a worth buying product. I always love Kat Von D Beauty Products. I think this palette is different and special than the other Kat Von D products. If you’re a makeup hoarder/ addict I really recommend you to buy this palette. Trust me, no regrets!!

School has finally started and I’m trying to accept the fact that I can no longer lazying around. Summer break was awesome, I was enjoying it and I almost forgot that I own a blog!

I was in Ipoh, Penang and KL. Places that I’ve been before but it was a whole different experience and memories of course!

I’m not gonna write too much this time, but I’m sharing my memories of my summer break and hey I’ve finally started a YouTube channel and details on my next post!

My birthday trip in KL was amazing!

It was my first trip with these ladies. We planned to spend our Saturday at Tadom Hills. I wanted to do all the water activity, but as we get there, I kinda felt disappointed! The Lake was small and there were too many people! It’s like 6 person cramped in a small car, can you imagine it? Tadom Hills is picture perfect but in reality it’s not. Not at all.

We stayed at Vortex suites. It was like 5 mins away to KLCC. I love our apartment unit even though it wasn’t the particular unit I booked, lol. The pool wasn’t that big but it’s just amazing and there was a  gym next to the pool and we can see half of the Twin Tower from the pool area and Shangri la hotel and KL Tower from our apartment. 

I wish I have my very own apartment unit there. I love this place so much especially the strategic location. Everything’s near. Restaurants and even shopping malls!  I swear when I was there I imagined, living there with my tropical looking living room with palm trees wallpaper on the wall a green vintage sofa and an armchair, with a cat! 

On that night, after having our spicy yet delicious Thai dinner, we went to Publika to support my colleagues for their audition. I forgot what was the competition called! 

But anyways, something funny happened that night! there were 5 of us and we took booked an Uber to go back to our apartment. The first driver cancel the trip so my friend had to book another one. We were extremely exhausted and it was super hot and couldn’t wait to leave. The next thing I know was, we end up getting in a different Uber with almost the same registration number as the one we booked. Now, imagine 5 of us cramped in an UberX and the driver didn’t say anything but just drive away as we get into the car! We didn’t know that we were in the wrong Uber until my friend get a call form our UberXL driver and this the driver who drove us get a call from his customer yelling, lol! We got kicked of the car by that unlucky driver and have to wait for at least 15 minutes for our driver to come! sigh.

The next day was fun but I was having fever. I don’t know why I always get sick! Despite having the fever, I still walk for few kilometres from our Suites to KL tower, and yes I was walking up the hill and then to an Middle Eastern Restaurant in Bukit Bintang. The food was Stupendously Scrumptious. We had 2 different type of rice, with 2 types of lamb and BBQ chicken. We were enjoying the food till we get the bill. The food cost us RM110!!!!!!! and that was not including the drinks! 

That night I met a friend of mine which i haven’t seen him for 4 years, I had an affordable dinner *lol, watch the water show at KLCC and talk for few hours. it felt great to meet a friend and talk nonstop.

The next day before heading back to JB, me, Diane and Cherie went to Ikea Cheras. It was my first time there. I’ve been craving for it since like forever and I was so thankful that we managed to pack Meatballs. 

So the plan started with bungee jump changed to Tadom Hills, in the end we did nothing adventurous at all but I’m thankful for the memories even though it didn’t go as what I planned.

It was April 18 and guess what? It was my BIRTHDAY !!!!

i’m always excited when it comes to my birthday. When I was a child I was very excited to receive presents. Excited to receive the Barbie doll that I’ve been eyeing or some beautiful lip glosses when I became a teenager! 

Now, since I’m getting older, but not too old *clear throat*, the excited feeling is kinda different. It’s not about receiving presents that matters, but I value and appreciate the wishes the most. To me, it means that people remember, love and value me especially the one whom you never thought will!

But hey, not all of them though, especially those who wished on Facebook and only found out it’s your birthday when they received notification, lol!

Anyway, thanks my parents, best friends, friends, students and my colleagues who knows me only few months. Thanks for all the sweet wishes and the presents and cards, I love them especially Kosé Infinity Beauty Hand Serum *This means review coming soon*, the bracelets and the sling bag my mom gave and the dinner treat! I had seafood and my favourite Salted egg Crab.

Now, I can’t wait for my weekend birthday trip this Saturday. 

I hope it will be fun!
