Mukt is a movement to reimagine, ignite and instil a sense of wonder and interest in the youth for the greatest literary geniuses of India. We exist as a result of our zest for music and literature alike. When we see the gems of past eras losing their meaning in spite of having much relevance in the contemporary world, we experience a dire urge to bring them back in a form that is more palatable to the people. Our journey is as much inward as in manifestation; our exploration has brought us closer to not only timeless insights from some legendary thinkers, but also to the depth of our souls, as we create melodies to their profound words. Our songs are eclectic not just in its diversity in the region of origin & language but also in its literary genre ranging from philosophy to dark sarcasm, patriotism to rebellious and fierce to romantic. The one thing that binds them together and to Mukt’s soul is the deep empathic compassion which cuts through every being it touches. On the other hand, our music revolves around the foundations of Rock but without losing the ethnic folk/fusion elements in our songs. The 3rd (and probably the most exciting) episode features none other than, everyone's favorite, Amit Kilam, Drummer and one of the oldest members of the band Indian Ocean.
Amit sir is a perfect blend of 'technique and creativity' as a drummer and an inspiration to us since we formed the band. His songs with Indian Ocean have stood with us always and gave us the peace we pursued. See him unfold some of his fun filled stories of touring, composing and exploring music. Talking about the survival as an artist or a band in the contemporary time, how he came up with the simplicit idea of the basic 4/4 in their song Kandisa, and also talking about the memory of Aamir Khan while composing music for his production PEEPLI [Live] for which Indian Ocean gave music.
Our experience of shooting this episode is difficult to put up into words, but the time we had with him will be staying in our memories all our lives. As we saw him that day coming to us and saying, 'Hello Guys, let's start', we tried to hold back our stupor and have a great conversation which would entertain you and make you memorize what a jovial personality he has.

For the second episode of our video series 'Under the Bridge with Mukt', we enter the humble abode of a remarkable Gujarati Poet of our times - Tushar Shukla - the man behind much loved Gujarati songs Puchhine Thay Nahi Prem, Kehvu Ghanu Ghanu Chhe, Mann Masti Ane Motor Cycle, Bhaasha Mari Gujarati Chhe, O Rangrasiya and many more, he is gifted with the art of language. Mr Tushar Shukla is a beloved and celebrated poet as a verbal proponent of the Gujarati language. Apart from being a writer, he is a spoken word artist, playwright, actor, mentor to young talent in Gujarat University's Department of Journalism and also a badass biker.
In this episode, you will see us enfold tales from the Bhakti movement era compiling of the composer poets such as Narsinh Mehta, Gangasati, Zaverchand Meghani and many more - followed by the current legends such as Gulzar Sa'ab defining poetry in songs such as 'Beedi Jalai Le' (composed by Vishal Bharadwaj for his directional milestone 'Omkara'). We also talked about the journey of a song from the perspective of the lyricist while he explains his incidence of meeting the beloved band of Gujarat - @themeghdhanush for the first time for his work in the movie 'Chello Divas' for which he wrote the song 'Kehvu Ghanu'. This episode is full of knowledge and wisdom, you sure are going to get enchanted in the words Tushar sir has rightly chosen to convey the importance of 'Music' in the survival of 'Literature'.
