A/N: “Imagine Legolas with a fae s/o elves and fae are mistaken for one another by outsiders only for legolas and fae reader to be like no we are totally different with one difference being fae controlling nature and having healing powers. I have this idea fae reader likes to show legolas things that interest her”.
So, this turned out to be the meeting rather than the established relationship with the introduction to Legolas’ friends. Still, I hope you like it. As per usual: please like, comment, and especially reblog – that’s the only way to make sure other people see it too. Here’s my TAGLIST and my MASTERLIST for more.
Fae/elf
He has heard of them. As an elf of the wild woods, Legolas was a wild child – at one with the forest and its seasons and yet there was still a politeness to his kin relationship with nature. A certain civility. Not to mention that the elves of Greenwood live orderly lives with roofs over their heads and beds to find rest in.
But there are elves who are downright feral, or so he’s been told. Elves that abandoned the way of their brethren eons ago in order to be part of nature instead of living along side it. “Fae”, they’re called by most. “Sylvan”, they call themselves if the tales are to be believed.
As a child, Legolas threw himself over the tales – there were many – only to trace them all back to the same few encounters from ages ago. Defeated, the young prince eventually gave up on his dream of ever meeting a fae himself.
Little did he know.
Eons have passed. Legolas has come to the Undying Lands with his best friend, the dwarf Gimli (it had caused a great uproar but the dwarf proved himself, making the other elves accept him). The dreams of Legolas’ youth are long forgotten.
“Come, Gimli, ride with me.”
But Legolas knows it’s a request that falls on deaf ears as Gimli is working on a diadem for Galadriel – a personal request. So the former prince of Greenwood sets out on his own.
The morning dew still clings to every straw and leaf. The creatures of the night are only just settling down. This is the time of day that Legolas adores the most: when the light is young and the air is thin, carrying the fragrances on the gentle mist that gathers in otherworldly pools on the fields.
He has ridden for an hour when he halts in a clearing and dismounts. Leading the deer he has ridden on to the brook, the blond elf stretches and turns to face the rising sun. He still has a hand on the neck of the animal as it drinks so he feels it move, attracted to something further down the stream.
Turning to see what it is, Legolas has to strain his eyes: a crouched figure, dressed in soft leathers and leaves, watching him with clear eyes that hold eons of wisdom yet also a child’s curiosity.
Fae.
There’s no doubt.
“Mae govannen,” he greets softly, afraid to startle them.
Thankfully, instead of getting scared, the fae elf stands up and it becomes apparent it’s a female. Slowly, she steps closer. And closer. Until she’s right before Legolas who just keeps still. An elegant hand rises, index finger extended and she...boops his nose, making her erupt in a giggle. Perhaps it’s the act itself that brings her so much joy or perhaps it’s Legolas who is very taken aback by the action.
Then she turns and runs off, only pausing briefly to send him a bright smile before disappearing into the forest from whence she’s undoubtedly come.

Legolas returns the next morning, earlier still, and she’s there as if waiting for him.
Dismounting, he pulls a pack of lembas bread from his satchel, offering it to her. It’s wrapped in green leaves which he folds aside to reveal the golden treat within.
She’s intrigued, that much is obvious. Edging closer, her nostrils are flaring to pick up the sweet scent of the honey that’s used for the lembas. Carefully proffering it forward, Legolas watches in fascination as she takes it with delicate hands and brings it to her lips. He loves the way she bites into it, the way her eyes close as she discovers the taste.
“It is good, is it not?” he mumbles.
But even the soft sound of his voice is enough to bring her out of the moment and she retreats a bit, eyes big with wonder as she considers the situation. Then she holds out her hand, cupped as if offering him something despite the fact that her palm is empty. Or it was. Out of thin air, delicious ruby berries appear, overflowing so a few spill to the ground. She pushes her now full hand closer to him, clearly showing that she wants him to take them, so he does, astounded and full of questions.
How did she do it?
Taking one, he relishes in the sweet and tart taste as it pops between his teeth – eyes closed. It’s the perfect taste of late summer, bringing back memories of foraging as a young elf in the vast forest of Greenwood...before it became Duskwood.
But he also feels the surge of energy fill his body, not unlike how the lembas bread would. She must have recognized the effect and recreated it in these berries.
Opening his eyes, he finds that she’s gone, though, but something tells him that they’ll meet again.
I LOVED THIS FIC SO MUCH!!! And the description of the fae being all giggly and playful is so me and i just love elves and faeries in general. I hope to see a continuation of this fanfic cause it was so cute and wholesome 😭🫶🫶
