So I read a lot of murder drones fics/see a lot of mini comics and fanart, and I’ve noticed that a lot of writers tend to infantilize N a lot. I know everyone is entitled to their own headcanons and whatever but am I the only one who doesn’t really like this? Like, yes he’s a sweet character but he’s not entirely innocent—at the end of the day he still killed a lot of people and he’s not clueless. He has a lot of depth and imo I think his positivity is also a sort of mask. I enjoy it when md writers/artists explore other sides of him besides the “oh biscuits, dogs are really cute!!” part of his character.
If I hadn't come across this post, I would've written one like this myself. This issue has been bugging me for as long as I've been in this fandom, and I'm glad someone's addressing this.
I often found that in the series, N seemed a bit more mature than Uzi actually, especially in heavily emotional situations. He may act goofy to brighten the mood, but he understands and processes feelings and behaviors very well, which would not be possible if N was childish like he's portrayed in some fan content (I really like the word 'infantilized' btw, it fits so well). Which brings me to the main point; he's not stupid. And this is the part that I don't like in most creations. Even when Michael Kovach himself makes him act stupid, I'm often a little disappointed that he doesn't give N the chance to be a smart, mature character. Michael even said in a stream (I think it was GlitchX?) that sometimes, when he doesn't know what to make him say, he'd resort to nonsenial goofy lines. And a part of me wishes he wouldn't misuse him like that. (But at the same time, I love Michael's work and I don't dare to criticize him. Besides, it's not canon - so whatever) But I'm glad to get this off my chest.
At the end of the day, I eventually love all sorts of fan content, no matter what N is like, and I'd rather have him infantilized than not have fan content at all. <3
So if you've read till here - keep doing what you do! <3
